When I stretched the tyres over the rims tonight, a very tacky white coating appeared on the tyres. Anybody know what this is?

Tyres are new straight out of the blister. The more you stretch or squash them the whiter they get, then the white stuff rubs off.

Probably just mould release agents, which will wear off in time, or if its shelf queen will just evaporate off without whitening.

You could wash the tyres in a mild detergent to remove the residues.

I had the same thing happen when mounting the tires. I found it strange. But the white went away so no worries.
