Hi ive read loads on here abaout how soft tamiya pinions are, but everytime i look into buying some better ones i get bogged down with the different pitchs and types etc

so i was woundering if anyone could help me and inturn help most others with the search for the correct pinions.

right are the rw steel pinions the best to get for starters ive noticed annsman racing sell them under there name too. link to fussion and modelsport for ref

right i have the following tamiya cars, could any wise souls let me know which exact pitch etc and part number i would need.

tamiya brat, are these 0.6 in 16t, 18t and 19t

tamiya hornet im guessing again 0.6 in 18t

tamiya cc01 ? in 16t or 20t

tamiya tt01 ?

tamiya sand scorcher re-re ? in 15t and 20t

tamiya hummer ? in 16t, 17t, 18t, 19t, 20t and 21t

tamiya lunchbox ? in 10t

I cant answer all but I can help with a few.

tamiya brat, 16t, 18t and 19t. Pitch 32dp

tamiya hornet 18t. Pitch 32dp

tamiya lunchbox 10t. Again 32dp but its a special long pinion made to work with the motor adaptor. Its made from brass & not the usual soft aluminium so most people dont have any problems with it.

Good job too as I dont think any one else makes such a pinion.

On modelsport do a search for "pinion"

Filter by Annsman Racing. The .6 pinions fit at least:

tamiya cc01 ? in 16t or 20t

tamiya tt01 ?

tamiya hummer ? in 16t, 17t, 18t, 19t, 20t and 21t

They may fit more.

The hornet and lunchbox come with brass pinions and don't appear to wear out, so no need to upgrade.

tamiya brat, are these 0.6 in 16t, 18t and 19t These are 0.8mod aluminium as standard, 32dp steel is a suitable replacement.

tamiya hornet im guessing again 0.6 in 18t This is 0.8mod aluminium as standard, 32dp steel is a suitable replacement.

tamiya cc01 ? in 16t or 20t These are 0.6mod aluminium AV. Replace with 0.6mod steel.

tamiya tt01 ? These are 0.6mod aluminium AV. Replace with 0.6mod steel.

tamiya sand scorcher re-re ? in 15t and 20t These are 0.6mod aluminium AV. Replace with 0.6mod steel.

tamiya hummer ? in 16t, 17t, 18t, 19t, 20t and 21t These are 0.6mod aluminium AV. Replace with 0.6mod steel.

tamiya lunchbox ? in 10t This is 0.8mod brass. No one makes a replacement in steel. The brass pinions don't wear badly.

and the DF03 Mark, (impact)?

The DF03 and DF03RA are 0.5mod pinions. The kit pinions are steel, the Tamiya replacement pinions are steel. No other company makes a pinion in a 0.5mod size. The pinion is not where you will get wear in a DF03, it's the aluminium gear pressed onto the mainshaft that will fail.
