Which is more rare NIB - in your opinion, a Ford XLT or Sand Rover.

Personally, I'm "in love" with the rover body - but chasis is rather simplistic.

Ford on the other hand has a pretty nice body (I wouldn't say I love it like I do the Rover body though) but the chasis is as good as a Rough Rider or SS.

Which would you want and why? Would you pay $500 for a NIB Sand Rover? Do you think Ford's are more rarer????

Let's discuss.... Look forward to your feedback.[;)]

If we are talking ebay prices I think the the Ford Ranger gets the higher price by quite some way, but as always price does not necessarily relate directly to rarity.

Ford ranger is both more rare NIB and costs considerably more. I sold mine for $1500. I love the sand rover body to but the chassis leaves a lot to be desired.

totally agree with you about that. The body is great on the rover. I bought one off Ebay as i liked the look of it but then saw the plastic chassis. Found out one gear was damaged and so i could not use it. Sold it again after a restore of the body. Made nearly 45% on it so at least it was not too bad an experience.

id="Times New Roman">id="blue">I just got a new half built Ranger from e-bay. I think these are fantastic kits and look better than a Sand Scorcher in my humbley opinion. Specialy when you consider the difference in cost. Maybe that is a better comparison than a Rover because the Ranger and Scorcher are very similar cars but with very different reputations.

Sand Rover has very nice looks but Ranger has a better chassis, great looks (according to Darryn and me at least [;)]) and must be more rare than the other RBs, if you ask me its underestimated and thus, a secret tip [;)]

The 'Racing Buggy' (that's SS, RR, XLT and the SC too) are technically much more advanced than the HB and the SR. The Ranger also is mostly made of metal which is much more desireable (to me at least) than the SRs plactic.

Though I must admit the SR looks really funny, as if it just came out of a comic book. [:)] I'd say they would be NIB for about $500, maybe a little over 600 during early Xmas on Ebay.. [;)]

The Ranger XLT however gets something near 1200 to 1500 bucks NIB in my opinion. It may have the same chassis as the famous Sand Scorcher, but the SS has more appeal to most collectors. It was a 'poor man's Hilux' in it's days. A bit like a 924 or 944 is a 'poor man's Porsche' [:D]

If a car is rare actually shouldn't really matter. I can say this so many times (It was told to me the same ammount of times [;)] ) , that you should just collect what you like. Even if you say you like a Striker more than a SS, that is true as it's your opinion. If you like the SR body more (which I completely understand) you should get yourself that car instead if you can.

I totally aggree. You should just get what you like, if that car is cheaper than a similar, but more popular, car then you are lucky.

I think comparing a Sand Rover and Ranger or Sand Scorcher is pretty difficult because they are such different cars. I wonder how many people have these two types of car compared to the amount of people with a Ranger and S Scorcher in their collection.

Anyway, who cares? There all good cars that help us re-live our lost childhoods[:P]

I actually disagree....

I think the Rover and Scorcher are at least body wise, very similar. And in my collection, both these cars sit next to each other!!

And as said already, both are fantastic older cars!!

Actually, thats a good point.

With the Rover and SS both being sand cars then they would be a better examples to compare.

I prefer the Rough Rider to the Sand Scorcher and find it strange that the SS seems to get more "desire" points from most people, specially when you consider the RR was the 1st. offroader.

Or am I just getting away from the main point and going down a "road of dreams"!!......[:)][:)]

Personally I'd rather have the Sand Rover. I've got the Blackfoot and to me one Ford F-150 is enough[:P]. I am actually a Dodge Man, so its killing me to own the Blackfoot..
