Hello from Germany,

The people from rctech.net send me over here to youre forum.

I have some Tamiya car's and want to do some tunning. They are sitting arround in the basement since 14 years and didn't see the daylight since this time. It breaks my heart and i wannt to drive again :(

I hope it's ok if i don't start a thread for every car. If i ask for every car i have in one thread it's easier to follow.

First i have a general question. Is there any benefit in using aluminium oil shock absorber instead of plastic oil absorber?

1. Blackfoot - #58058:

Got it from somebody totally messed up. Wheels full of thumbtack's as spikes :D . I never finished it and it is not paindet yet.

What can i do to make it better? What problems does this car have that i can make better? Better handling improvements? Motor suggestions? Wheels for forest road and sand?

2. King Blackfoot - #58192:

Hm, same questions as for the first Blackfoot.

3. Grasshopper II - #58074:

I think for this one i make some back axel shock absorber like people do it for Lunchboxe's.

What kind of Motor power would you give this car? Wheels? Better handling improvements?

4. Stadium Thunder - #58181:

I think this is some car that would be good to make it really fast. So what kind of Motor? And i want some wheels for the street/parking area to go fast and some for sand/beach/dunes. Better handling improvements?

5. Bullhead - #58089:

Ok, my monster :D . I'm a bit oldschool. I want it to look original - so no crawler chassis. I want all my cars to look like Tamiya sold them. So just tunning that is not flashy. So i want my Bullhead like the real monster trucks. For jumping over cars and this stuff. I think the motors need power. The other think is that the steering of this car is not really good. It never drove straight on. I saw people use 2 servos - is that good? So what kind of stuff to make this car better?

And what are suggestions for every cars servos...

If there are some parts on some cars that would be better of aluminium then tell me.

I have two motors here:

Tamiya RC RS540 Sport Tuned (#53068) - 18.300 rpm

LRP Runner 2 (#5826) - 23700 rpm at 7,2V / 27600 at 8,4V

Which one would you put in which car. If they are good enough for one.

Oh, and ball bearing are normal stuff i do anyway to every car :)

I look forward to your answeres.

hi , good to see you finaly come to the right forum ! first i would be down loading manuals for the cars if you dont have them already .

start with one and check it over to see whats broken or worn then make a list on what you need . the blackfoots( feet ?) would benifit from having alloy oill filled shocks fitted if they still have the originals , new tyres or rim/tyre combo's will help to .. fitting an electronic speed control ( esc) will help too . if you do this to all of them you will soon fix them up ..use the search funtion on this forum too .. it saves asking a lot of questions that have been asked over and over .. hope this helps you get a start ..
