I run my brat off-road so im thinking of locking the diff, just woundering if i get hold of the older gearset from the original and would it fit straight in, or is there another way of locking the existinf diff.

and help would be great.

Just clean alle the diff gears, and fill up the diff with hot glue, just remember to put it back together before the glue cures, otherwise it may be rather difficult to put the parts back together. This usually works fine, and the beauty of it is, that if you want to go back to working diff, you just disassemble it, and clean out the glue.

Alternately, if you dont ever wanna go back to working diff, use some "chemical metal" glue instead. (JB weld or what it´s called)..

Beware not to have too many "drips" of glue, as these may wander around your gearbox, cramping up the other gears..

Cheers..

hey Tamiya Monkey.i think the "glue up the diff" option may be easiest too.

i got the original Brat spur and solid diff gears awhile back thinking i would do the same idea as you.

problem is the brass and steel solid out drive seems hard to find on its own..perhaps there is an alternative now the SRB's are re-red?

also the Brat spur has a moulded on counter gear...(better than the alum re-re one!) but the tooth count means it only fits with the solid diff...i found that there are 3 different overall ratios for use in an ORV gearbox...1 the Brat/Lancia rally,

2 the Frog and re-re Frog and re-re Brat and lastly

3 the big wheel models such as Monster Beetle,Blackfoot and Mud Blaster.

The Frog has a "pop out" style counter gear of brass or aluminium that drives a Hotshot diff.

The big wheel models have a moulded in counter gear that matches a different tooth count diff gear

The orig Brat is similar to the big wheel models but has a slighter higher ratio but not as high as the lowest Frog ratio...if that makes sense?! :)

so long story short....hotglue! :D
