Morning everyone, well when I start something I tend to jump right into it.

Firstly, Clodzilla. Just how slow do 55t and 35t motors make it compared to a standard silver can? I want it to be able to motor around the garden but still be able to do a bit of crawling without struggling too much. (Mine has no tyres and tired old silvercans so I haven't run it yet.)

I'm keeping it on a 7.4v Lipo for crawling, although I do have an MTroniks E-Truck ESC that will run up to 14.4 volts, so if I fancy a bit more speed I can plug in 2 Nimh batteries in series to give me the extra oomph.

Is this the right way for me to go about this or will it damage the ESC or motors? What motors would you reccomend that could handle the odd burst of 14v but still be usable running around on 7.4v?

Secondly the DH, would it be okay wiring in a standard ESC as long as the combined turn of the motors doesn't exceed the rating of the ESC? (2x 27t = 13.5t running from an 11t capable ESC, I have a couple of MTroniks, an ETronics and a Futaba all capable of handling an 11t motor, but would they work?)

Thanks for your help,

Tony

No idea on the clod but I'd be interested to see responses on the relative speed of crawler motors versus silvercans, on both 7.2 and ca 14V.

As to the dual motor / esc limit you are spot on , 2 x 27turn motors is like a 13.5turn to the esc

Cheers Percymon, that's the DH sorted then. It's for my son to mess around with so I don't want a ballistic machine. I'm off to modelsport sometime this week to pick up motors and pinions so I should be able to give you an idea on how the motors perform.

I'm getting the 35's for Jake, and I may give them a bash in the Clod to see how they go. I just need to make sure they wil handle the 14v too.

I may pop by MTroniks and have a chat too about the E-Truck ESC and get them to solder on the wires for me.
