Hi All

I have just bought a used Rising Fighter buggy on Ebay for my 6 year old to learn on (he keeps smashing up my lovely custom lunchbox).

The buggy works fine initially but at about 15m it goes bonkers and does it's own thing.

I am reasonably competent and have tested the batteries and crystals in the LB and they work fine. The ariels on TX and RX are fully extended and don't seem damaged. The symptoms have occured in 3 different locations so I can rule out interference from anything. I have reset the ESC as per the instructions.

Looking on the web it seems that the proximity of the ESC to the RX unit (too close) could be the problem but they are fitted as per the design / manual.

Any ideas welcome. Can anyone tell me how to test an ESC and a Receiver without going to all the trouble of putting them in my LB to test.

Thanks for any help.

You could try turning the receiver around and running the antenna down a different route to the tube mount. check where the excess cables running from the ESC to the receiver are sitting. Most people just tie wrap them up and stuff them anywhere they can fit them, make sure they are not against the motor or battery wires as this could be messing up the signals.

Keep the aerial cable from the RX away from power cables, if it must be in close proximity then make sure the aerial cable crossed the power cables at 90' and doesn't run paralllel to them

Yep thats fixed it, thanks.

I've moved the ESC as far down to the front and the RX as far to the back as possible. This leaves the ariel wire going straight out of the back of the RX and straight up the tube.

So why has Tamiya put them right next to each other in the manual when there is plenty of room in the chassis to keep them seperate? Derrr!!!

The Rising Fighter seems cheaply made and clumsily detailed compared to other lovely tamiya units, but its cheap and quite robust so I think a good starter for a youngster.

Thanks for your quick replies guys.
