It's 'just' someone's project :) It's a few years back that it was 'released' to the public from what I remember: It uses many TA04 parts to create the 4WD. Tamiya haven't responded to it by creating their own 4WD version of the Frog.

Sadly, the original seems to be offline or something (I have it in my favorites list):

It's been posted on the forums several times I recall, but I can only find this one:

http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?...mp;hl=4wd++frog

All I do know is that it's a massively overhauled Frog - it uses many parts from the TA04 for it's drivetrain, and the front arms have been replaced like what seems to be TA04 or DF03 lower arms and uprights.

Thanks for the info m8.

that is a pretty cool DYI conversion, now that guy needs to market it to convert Blackfoots and monsterbeetles and brats :)

Yep, one of the best classic Tamiya conversions, along with Grahoo's IFS Hotshot, upgraded Grasshopper Special and DF03 Hornet. A lot of work has gone into these. It would be so cool if these conversion kits were available to buy.

That looks like an interesting conversion to try out. I've always liked the TA04 chassis and I'm still working on my ORV chassis projects so building one of these looks like fun to me. Was a build thread or a 'how to' ever posted up anywhere?

Yep, on the PMMC link posted above, unfortunately Infoseek pulled their free personal web hosting last October.

You can make out what you would need to do from the magazine article pictures

To copy it depends on how good your machining skills are. Take one set of Frog chassis parts, and one TA04 rear gearbox, belt drive, front suspension wishbones and uprights, and some F201 suspension parts to mount the front shocks inboard. Everything else is custom made, lower chassis, front gearbox case, front wheel adapters, even the Frog style rear arms are custom parts. Of course something similar could be built with hand tools, just not to the same level of quality. I know Grahoo knows the person who built it.

Thanks for the better pics.

Hmmm. My machining skills are, er, non-existant. :lol:

It still looks do-able though. I have the hand tools and a lot of the parts already so I'll just have to study the pics a lot more to see what was done.
