Nuremberg Toy Fair 2011

Recommended Posts

it looks like they all will be back boys 4wd racer,

**** I finaly got a wild ceptor body (well 2 actually) last week to complete all three after a long search :P

Did you get a bodyset? I have been after a boxed ceptor bodyset for my collection (I have the 3 kits 2 runners one of which is very modified) I also have the voltac and Blitz bodysets in a box. I've never seen a ceptor bodyset (in box listed as a spare part).

Rc boys for the win !!!!

Here is a link of my modded one beating tt01's and hb cyclones at my local club.

Buggy Champ Silver Edition? Dear oh dear, I feel a letter coming on...

Dear Tamiya,

For the love of God will you please stop bombarding us with these "Collector's Edition" Buggy Champs.

It doesn't matter what colour you paint them red, blue, gold, silver or Arabian Midnight Pink anyone who wanted a Buggy Champ will have bought one by now.

I'm sorry if you have a mountain of unsold body sets to get through but to be honest that's what you get for re-releasing the less popular body set first; if you'd gone straight for the Scorcher then everything would be rosy and the rice wine would be flowing around Tamiya Towers.

Your's faithfully,

O Lunchbox.

... I'm clicking send now.

Hmmm it's a bit to gold for me. I'm glad I got the regular blue one but I bet the gold one looks nice in the flesh.

Some nice cars, I hope the escort shell is easy to get again, also the Mclaren :P I will be buying one of these bodysets. And last but not Lear the rc boys cars!!! I hope they release a new model soon.

I really hope they don't start changing their anodizing to gold in the future - I assume they won't, but still... It looks ok for one release (though I'd prefer blue), but it would be boring for a completely line-up.

It's a surprise to see the TG10-Mk.2 making a comeback. At first glance it looked like it was going to be a nitro drift, as the tires look hard and very shiny like super driftech's, but it is listed as 1/10 R/C Raybrig HSV-010 (TG10-Mk.2 SZ)

http://tamiyablog.com/wp-content/uploads/2...rg_2011-074.jpg

Good to hear I'm not the only one. Nitro have never been a big part of Tamiya's lineup, but missing even an onroad car did make it look like the offroad Nitro's weren't even there.

I hope they re-release the TGX as well, as that means there will be good looking 1/8th scale wheels about again  Not to mention that with a brushless motor fitted, you'll have a VERY off-road capable (electric) rally car.

So, here are my pics from yesterdays visit on the Toy Fair:

http://img52.imageshack.us/g/img0874xge.jpg/

I was a bit dissapointed compared to last year. Nothing really new.

Some thoughts:

- Avante is really yummy

- So is the TA-05 VDF Drift chassis, although the gold anodizing looks a bit bland.

- BMW 318i STW and Ford Cosworth both available painted and clear! So there might be a clear body as spare parts.

- Loved the blue Datsun 240z Drift

Oh, and Badboy: I spoke to a german salesman. According to him there are no waterproof ESCs planned.

But he seemed not all too sure.

Perhaps I'm missing something but how come these have not been added to the list here?.. http://www.tamiya.com/english/nurnberg/index.htm

There's another thread from one of the earlier shows with some 'custom' models for a comp I think - these aren't necessarily releases, could just be competition entries.

Edit;

Modeling contest entries - http://tamiyablog.com/2011/02/tamiya-japan...elling-contest/

Yes, I am sooooooooooo with you on this one... ;)

Somewhere in the house I have a TGX that I converted to electric 15'ish years ago and instead of getting a new r/c car, I was thinking of getting a brushless motor to power the beast. The Castle Creations SCT Pro motor system spring to mind...

Back then I powered the car with a Tamiya modified 540 motor and it was quite nimble on the tarmac - so think what a 2011 brushless system will do the car...lol..Holy smoke, batman :D

Darn you Tamiya and your perfectly timed and executed releases *shakes fist* B)

I've been looking at F1's thanks to TC members like Fernando Alonso (not thee) and deanje10

Now I want a 99T and MP4/6

and then a lotus 79

then...

Miss what?

B)

I assume this is your statement about the un-newsworthiness of the Tamtech "Pigwig", or maybe the fact that other than a picture of a bone stock GB-01 buggy sporting a different shock tower and shell it was ... yawnworthy?

You got all that from "miss what" ^_^ If the pen's mightier than the sword, my keyboard must be a WMD

What I meant was what did you miss; the Bigwig's not a new model coming out, it's a creation made to enter a competition.

Rather a big effort though for just a competition, considering the body is scaled down to fit the Tamtech buggies :) That's what you get though with Tamiya nutters and hardcore hobbyists! ^_^

Yeah, you need to be a bit dedicated - I struggle to even finish a paintjob properly, let alone sculpt the shell in the first place

There is another 'show' thread with even more of them, but I can't find it at the minute

I took one look at the Tamtech and just assumed it was another GB-01 variant from Tamiya. I really should have clued in that it was a comp entry. Derrrr.

Actually, as a one-off custom job it really is pretty impressive! That's a lot of work to get the right effect. As a mass produced model I would be unimpressed, but as a custom job, well that is a whole different story.

I really should DRINK my cup of coffee before turning on the computer and perusing TC every morning, it would avoid so much temporary confusion. :)

Is that a Big Wig????

No.

I mistook it for something else too. I thought it was a new tamtech buggy, but it was apparently a competition entry built on a tamtech GB-01 buggy chassis with some very, very cool custom work.

As a tamtech product it would be just of so so interest, but as a custom thing it is really very cool.
