Sorry for the newbie questions, guys... [:I]

As title sugests:

[?] Can you use brakefluid on wheels to get rid of a messy paint job? The wheels in question are from a Hotshot 1. More about that HERE.

This might be relevant to the discussion of "BF on wheels":

[?] Can you get the paint off, without damaging the silver / gold plating some wheels may have? (like the MB, Fox, Supershot wheels etc. etc.) My wheels are the oridinairy white ones, though. [;)]

As nobody seems to check the "Sales / Wanted / Trades" section of the forums [|)], I might want to attend you here that I desperately need some parts for my HotShot. Thanx. [:D]

brake fluid can't be used on Chrome, it will strip quite quickly. Saying that, if you take your part out at the right time it strips the oxidisation and scum off the chrome and brings it up like new. You must keep an eye on it though. I found that out on a ranger chrome grill that was half painted and a bit chipped so i thought i would try. Worked really well, i was most pleased.

Hi Guys

Another Thin that does not work is leaving your chrome parts in (initially) in hot water with a strong dishwashing soap. I did that and forgot about it untill the next day (overnight). The chrome became all cloudy. When I tried to get it shiney the chrome wiped of the parts!

Thanx for all the tips guys. Those wheels will be floating in the BF soon... [|)]

Now lets hope I can fix the drilling they did. It looks horrilbe but I might be able to fix it. Else it'll be new wheels... [B)]

[?] Can you put tires in the brakefluid? I've got a set of F-1 wheels and tires horribly painted, and they are glued on... [:(] Can I throw them all in the BF or should I apply it with a brush or so? I hear the rubber in hydrolic (braking) systems is a special kind of rubber resistant to the BF, and that 'normal' rubber will become all gooey. [:o] Any1 knows? [:)]

I have successfully dunked a set of WildOne wheels in acetone, and it'll strip off any & every type of paint. Most 'nylon' type wheels will survive this harsh solvent, which also removes superglue.

Note most new Tamiya wheels today are only ABS plastic, not nylon. The only new Tamiya wheels that will survive acetone are the fibre-reinforced black 'racing' ones.

Acetone usually affects rubber in various ways, so best not to put it in.
