Web site using images with out consent

Recommended Posts

Hello all

I was a bit angry today that i found my image of my car on the following site. http://www.blackholesun.fr/RC_Suzuki_US.php

Now i know its the net and images get used all the time but this site e-mail'd me last year asking if they could use any of my

images for there site. I said no to this and then today found that they had used it anyway. Why ask then get a no and do it

anyway?

The image has been removed now after me having to ask them sternly to remove it at once.

If I ever need to, I watermark my images with Picture Shark - free and dead easy to use.

Only really use it for eBay though, just so the lazier sellers can't use my pics

Unfortunately, there's no way I've ever seen to stop someone (me, anyway) grabbing an image if they want it bad enough - even when right clicking is disabled, 'print screen' or Fireshot still gets the job done.

At least there's a little comfort in the fact they chose your pic over all the others :D

Must be the 'Rizzo' bit that attracts them; http://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?...st&p=344959

If you enlarge the Modelsport pic, it does say "Used with kind permission...", so either they asked or lied. I'll give 'em the benefit of the doubt.

Pretty sure the consent was obtained after it was noticed;

It would be nice if they just asked first, I know it's just a toy car (what am I saying!) but .........

I hope Tamiya don't stuff up the Scorcher like they did the Brat & have tinted glass. Clear glass would be nice.

regards

Jak

I think you're right.

The trouble is, it's almost impossible to police it & it's so easy to just lift the image anyway, even images from Flash players can be got with a little detective work.

Marking or watermarking the pictures sure can help, but things like this will happen one way or another. In the end, if you mark them and they take some picture of yours for their site, it will always says it's yours.
