Okay folks, best way to get my preglued tires & wheels apart without damaging the wheels ?

You could try boiling them. If you don't care about the tires, you can cut them off, but be prepared for a lot of work to scrape/dremel out the remains of the old tires.

Great vid :( I never expected that those methods would actually work without ruining either the tire, or the wheel

I will definetely try that out next time I need to remove tires (so far I've just been pulling on them like a maniac, and usually it works as I glue my wheels on points, not the entire length - sometimes though the rubber tends to stay behind a little, so I guess that's where the boiling method comes in :(

I like the acetone/nail polish remover method as well. When I put in one of my TT-01 rims, though, it got seriously deformed and was unusable. I'm not sure if this is true for some or true for all Tamiya rims, but just a word of caution.

Acetone will melt styrene wheels. It's fine with nylon wheels.

Boiling works, but again the styrene wheels don't fare well with the heat and may deform. Wear gloves! I've burnt myself with the hot rubber before.

Plated wheels will loose their plating with either method.

If the tyres are toast, I always go for the cut method. Narrow chisel blade in the hobby knife to clean up the remaining bead. Less chance of damaging the wheel to get a new set of boots on them.
