Ordered the steel pinions for the DT02 today too and some other bits for the TR201.

Just about have everything ordered to build both of these except the BL and Radio systems for the TRF201.

I am looking forward to seeing how the DT02 goes at MP and the DB01 with the double slipper clutch in it.

I just realised I have about 18 things on order coming in the post

Going to have a few smiles on my face over the next week ;)

Better get those runners ready boys.....hey falcon#5, do you have a Pegasus on your wishlist? Spied one yesterday that I can get for nothing, needs a little work but looks pretty complete, let me know, cheers

It's finally happening hey?!

Was the second container just for your RC gear?! ;)

A set of bearings arrived today, more stuff on its way.

Runners are coming together. (After being pulled apart again! :) )

Oooh, yes. A Pegasus is on my wishlist! :o

It'd be great if you could grab it! Cheers mate!

I'm sure some beers will be traded for it.

Good stuff! :)

What batteries did you end up getting, and where from?

I still need to organise some myself.

I went through my emails last night, and had receipts for stuff I forgot I bought! ;)

My postie will be busy this week, but not as busy as yours by the sounds!

I ended up getting 3 of these Turnigy 5000mAh 2S1P 20C hardcase pack. I will have to see how they go or don't go in the Lunchie and then I will decide how many round edge ones I get from RCMart.

These should be fine as by my calculations 5000 x 20 = 10000 / 1000 = 100amp discharge rate so my 60A ESC that I have ordered in my BL systems. (I hope I have that right)

**Edit** just watched a vid on YouTube and a guy put 5mm spacer between the chassis and battery mount to fit a Lipo

I'm guessing they got some back in stock then.

I'll have to break out my measuring stick and check the Falcon.

I was racking my brain trying to work out your calculation, then realised you missed a '0' :P

The 60A ESC will have burst current draws much higher than the 60A constant, is that right? :)

Posted

Yeah I was watching some TV and thought I bet you missed a 0 in your posted.... and what do you know yep!

Well a the burst of a Lipo is double the C rating on a Lipo so if 20C that is 40C burst. (if I remember right)

not sure about a ESC burst... will google it

Posted

Ok by my understanding if you have a 60A ESC it handled 60A at a constant but will overheat at burst rate higher than that. so if you have a 30C lipo you should be fine.

don't hold me to that as I am an extreme Noob at all this.

I have got two eZRun-60A-SL ESC coming and my Googling says it has a burst rate of 380A....

now I am confused

I'm a massive noob when it comes to this too! :P

I thought ESC's had a burst rate measured in seconds.

Eg, they could handle much higher Amps, but only for a certain amount of time?

But I'm not 100% on this.

Maybe mtbkym01 could shed some light? :P

380 / 60 = 3.6.

So it can handle 380A for 3.6 seconds?

Yes I think you are right I did read something like that before but can't find it again

I'm good with calculations, but need the formulae to do it! :P

Maybe throw out a new post? :)

Thats all I do each day is formulae in MS Excel for work.

Just watched some vids on YouTube on the Turnigy ACC6 chargers.... simple to use

I think I might order a Lipo bag but just to be on the safe side when charging them.

Motor current draw plays a part too.

Well, the main part from what I can tell.

Motor current draw has to be matched by a battery that can supply it, and also an ESC that can flow the required Amperage.

Time for bed I think!

:):P

Might have to YouTube the Turnigy charger, and have a sus.

LiPo bag I have thought about too, and will probably get. I don't fancy burning my shed down! :P

For info, my access is gonna be limited for a little bit, just using my iPhone at present. My permanent move with work takes effect end of may, so I'll be back to Cairns for a couple weeks at most after our drive this week.

Cheers

That would be inconvenient having to go to work/live up there while your stuff is down here. B)

I bet you can't wait to get settled.

Do you have the web address for TC mobile?

I've seen it before, but tried looking for it afterwards, to no avail. :)

I think it is tamiyaclub.com/m

The MP video is good. Gives an idea of the track but it does need a little bit of work.

Cheers mate, I'll put that in my phone when I get some credit! :)

The normal TC site is hard to look at on a tiny screen.

I think that video was shot about 12 months ago, but looks the same as when I took the pics at the start of this thread.

I didn't run any cars when I was there, so you'd have a better idea what it's like to drive on! B)

But I'm more than willing to chip in to fix it up. ^_^
