Just got an email form modelsport saying that the parts for my hornet were out of stock and are now on back order

Rewind a few days and i got an email form fusion hobbies them too saying that they are on back order aswell

Now heres the kicker, both websites said at the time that those parts were in stock

Anyone know why this is happening?

Its not just Hornet parts - some Clod parts are similarly out of stock in UK

It is a bit frustrating ordering things, only to find out the website is misleading, with non live stock levels !

I've seen people use a small self tapping screw through the chassis and the lip at the front of the cover. I have a zip tie around the brackets the gearbox pivots on. That stops it falling right out, although it can still open a little...

a damper shaft for the rear, and the rear body mounts.

oh and i forgot, driving skills

Did you ask Google?

Unfortunately, like many things Tamiya, you may need to get some extra pieces to get the ones that you want.

Like others have said, a small screw at the front of the car will lock the battery door shut and prevent it from falling out.

There is an old thread somewhere with a photo showing exactly where if you want to look for it. It's simple though, just flip the car over and find a spot where the battery door lip slides under the chassis and put a screw in there.

Wouldn't drive a Hornet/Grasshopper without it. Sadly I had to learn about this mod by losing the door and dragging a brand new battery pack across a parking lot at full pelt to realize this was a well known problem. Not best pleased, I can tell you that.

I know what you mean, two days after I got my lovely clean hornet I went off some small skateboard kicker ramps (dont worry I had a landing ramp) anyway, I went of the jump then crack, the battery door came off, and it ruined my nice clean battery was ripped to shreds bystone in the ground. Now you can't even see that its an ansmann 2000Mah battery because I have had to tape it up with electrical tape.

Is this a design error on tamiyas part.

It is a bit of a design flaw. Tamiya addressed it by adding a R clip on The Super Hornet & Grasshopper II.

You could go to the lengths of fitting a Super Hornet or Grasshopper II chassis & battery door. But its easier to do one of the suggested methods above.

As a kid all of my batteries were covered in insulation tape after my Hornet had dragged them down the street or over gravel.

Thanks for all the replies!

Just wanted to know what kit/part bag the small self tapping screw came from

P.S. Thinking of saving up for the rumoured re-re-re-re Clod or a blackfoot xtreme (Just want something to run over my friend Tom's Blitz "Insert evil laugh")

The one I used was from a HPI RS4 Micro. Small, short (so it doesn't stick into the battery) and with a flat head (so it doesn't catch on anything).

Finally the parts came a few days ago

I then went to rebuild the shocks and realised that one of the damper cylinders were broken, the thing is that websites are wanting £7.50 for one!!!

This is starting to really spend my money.

Thats the thing about the hornet if it does break it stings you in the wallet  !!
