Silly question, but when looking at motors i noticed that LRP do two ranges of motors where they quote the turns as 17X2 , 19X2, 21X2.

How does this affect turn rating when pairing up with an ESC - is a 21X2 a 21turn motor, a 10.5turn motor ?

I assume its 21turns, as otherwise some of their hotter motors (11x2) would be very hot indeed for brushed motors. I want to check before i buy the wrong thing !

Thanks in advance

A 21x2 turn motor is 2 wires wound round armature 21 times so its still a 21 turn motor. You will be fine with an esc that can cope with a 21turn motor doesnt matter if its a 21, 21x2, 21x3, or 21x4 etc

Thanks but does double winding make it better - i assume single wire winds are of thicker wire so overall 'electric field' is similar to thin wire double winds?
