It's finished now so I though I'd share.

This is the first one I've owned and have pined after one for a while. I was lucky, shortly after I got the NIB kit I found the elusive Tamiya lower carbon chassis - part 4025036 (thanks Paul!) as well as the other two original Tamiya carbon parts (easier to find). You can see the carbon weave through the windows which is nice, it looks quite different from the FRP parts. It's using blue Ti turnbuckles and white TRF springs and it's got a Grasshopper driver's head in there too.

The body has just been prepared, painted and finished by Schaumat here on Tamiyaclub (Showroom: Kokuzu) and it's absolutely fantastic, I can really recommend his work and I'll be using him again. He helped me understand what needed to be done and then the best way to do it, his rates are perfectly reasonable and his service is top shelf, thanks again! B)

This one's for the shelf, wish my photography was as nice as the car lol.

Really great looking body on these. Wish the TRF201 looked this good. Nice work.

Proper shelfer, although you should give it a run from time to time!

Cheers,

Isn't that the reason for the TRF201? The better looking buggies are to look at, the better handling buggies are to use!

Oh and that is a beauty by the way. Looks amazing

They can be combined, so why not combine the best of both world? :) The Dyna Storm came close in it's day, being the best looking buggy on the block, decent handling but not quite the ride to win significant titles apparently.

The showroom entry from Kokuzu of this very shell got me interested in sending my Dyna Storm body to be painted as well - I've already had a conversation about it with him. And though I really like the looks of the box-art, I've got wilder plans in mind for the shell... Something that fits the looks of hi-cap dampers and the carbon wheels from Nimrod Racing very well I think B)

I'm glad the carbon parts arrived to a good owner, and to see them back on TC ;) The best looking buggy ever, made even better looking with the driver and some non-boxart touches to it!

Very nice! Looks great.

You built it with std tb's first and then replaced with the blue ones later? You're dedicated!

Would you mind listing the blue tb part no's for others?

The DS cult continues!! B):););)

Thanks for all the nice comments guys, I appreciate those.

@MAD RACER - yes save the bottom one, they don't come around too often, it would be horrible to scratch one up.

@Skottoman - I'd love to but each and every turn of the wheels takes it one step (rotation?) further from being in pristine condition. My 511 is fine and fun to run off road.

@Origineelreclamebord - Yeah I think the minor changes do enhance the shelf loot without taking away the Box Art essence. I have the kit parts as well which will stay with the vehicle. And I think yours does deserve a custom paint job, something dark (read: evil) immediately springs to mind... B)

@Singapore_959 - Yep, I built it close to stock first because I'd never built one before and wanted that experience. They weren't too hard to swap out. :)

Turnbuckles

42118 - 3x32 TRF Blue Ti Turnbuckle - Servo - direct replacement

42119 - 3x38 TRF Blue Ti Turnbuckle - Rear Upper Arms - direct replacement

42120 - 3x42 TRF Blue Ti Turnbuckle - Front Upper Arms - direct replacement

42121 - 3x45 TRF Blue Ti Turnbuckle - Front Steering - 5mm shorter than the kit part, too short for a runner I think, fine for a shelfer

I think the blue wheel nuts complement the white wheels but also black wheels if the car has visible blue.

Again, thanks for the complements guys and to my friendly suppliers... ;)
