Prices back in the day...say 1989

I was think back to 1989 -sun, 8th grade, Miami Vice, and hobby store prices for tamiya kits. Here are some that I remeber off hand.

Grasshopper $89.99

Hornet $99.99

Frog $89.99 (most stores were getting rid of old stock)

Falcon $109.99

Blackfoot $110.00

Monster Beetle $130.00

Mudblaster $120.00

Clodbuster $234.00

Bruiser $369.00

Any one else remember the prices. Looking at the old sheldon hobbies add and the other store that would show the cartoon drawings of the tmaiya kits.

Those were the good ol' days!! I am thinking about modifying my Wild One with a flux capacitor, so that it will take me back in time to the year 1982! hehe!!! I'll bring everyone back some goodies from all of the hobby shops from around the world circa 1982!! haha!

In 1982 remember buying my Holiday Buggy tax title and out the door for $75.[] My local hobbyshop had an NIB SS for $120.[V]

Check out how much prices have fallen on non-collectable rc stuff though. A ClodBuster now is only about $30(US) more, after 13 years of inflation. $44(US) for a timer-charger? You can get a decent peak charger for that now. How about the 2ch radio? A low-end Futaba with 2 servos is about $45(US) at tower today.

$80(US) for a Big Bear. That a few $(US) more than a Traxxas Stampede kit today.

As for the prices in the original list, a King Blackfoot today costs less than the original Blackfoot. Super Hornet is in the $70(US) range.

How much was a 1200mah battery back then?
