Best on board RC video I've ever seen

Absolutely amazing. Want to know what it's like to DRIVE an RC? In the seat? Turn your head and look around?

Yeah those are awesome, saw them about a year or so ago on an aussie forum, there's some really cool ones like where he stages his RC getting stolen on a wharf and driving miles down gravel roads etc

What radio gear has he got to be able to get that type of range?

Seen this guy doing stuff with a Summit.. very cool. I will say though that FPV kit isn't as expensive or as difficult to get hold of as you might think. The main cost is in the headset. I've built myself a very basic FPV system using a wireless security camera mounted on the turret of a 1/16 tank, and whilst the quality is nowhere near as good as that (but I'll be looking to upgrade the basic kit for something better), it's still quite useable.

Basically I bought a wireless security 2.4ghz camera for about £70, a USB capture card from Amazon for about £10 and plug the whole lot into a laptop. You can eiter use Windows movie maker or a bit of software called "AmCap" that came with a minivideo camera / recorder that you can by for about £12. At the moment, I'm using the security camera as a view finder for the main video camera, because the quality is better with that.

I'm also using a 40mhz 4 channel radio so that the signal from the camera doesn't interfere with the control of the tank.

It's definitely something that you should look in to, because FPV is very popular with the RC flyboys, and some of the kit you can get is very sophisticated (things like HUDs which include pitch, yaw, speed, altitude etc that overlay on to the video feed of the headset). Like most things with RC, you CAN spend a lot of money setting up, but you don't necessarily need to.
