Avante appreciation thread

Recommended Posts

As the re-release thread was starting to get way to big I thought it would be a good idea to start off a new thread just for showing off your Avante’s, Originals, 2001 and 2011 family of cars for those that want to see them.

Also this would be a good opportunity to list your cars details to help others that would like to know what ECU and motors you’re using

No interest then guys?

Plenty of interest here. Bit of a lull in work after the rush for end of financial year here in the UK so I've been on here a fair bit this week

I've got a 2011 which is packed away in my loft. Wasn't going to build it but have decided to anyway - if I'm feeling brave (i.e. while the wife isn't looking) I'll buy another kit to put into storage.

Bought a Vanquish that came yesterday which I was going to break for an Egress clone but it would be rude to considering it's condition. A fresh set of tyres and a new body and she'll be a nice shelfer or part time runner.

I did have an Avante 2001 when it first came out but I'm really after an Egress (painted in the colours of the reviewed car in RRCi in 1989)

I know this is an old thread, but it has sparked my interest in the Avante. I'm gonna have to keep my eyes open for one to restore. Great thread guys.

Now that sir, is a photo.

Inspiring thread... and probably the final nail in the coffin of my Avante self-denial.

Very nice pair indeed.

Love them. I'm trying to decide weather to run my Avante or my Top Force in mod at this yrs vintage festival.

My Top Force is going really well and my Avante keeps getting better with every tuning tweak that I do. Will see once I get a set of rear Hi Caps. <_<

If the track has alot of big jumps than go for the Top Force, my EVO handled the older version of my local track better than my Avante did when it was geared to the 1/8 guys. Now short course trucks have taken ove the track is now more flowing med jumps with alot of turns. My Avante handles this design well (Ive found the best set up to be three ball diffs, I didnt like the one way, too twitchy).

Thanks for the advice.

The track nis very smooth with small jumps at the vintage festival here. I'm waiting to see if my Dad has managed to purchase the rear Hi Caps for my Avante as I bought the front set a couple months ago and you can see them in my action pic & really transformed the handling of the Avante with a little more droop in the suspension. I hate miss matched shocks that it has at the moment .

I have noticed the torque splitter set comes with 2 ball diffs and isn't that expensive. Is this a better set up with the centre ball diff as well.??

Mine is still standard gear diffs.

Cheers

That would appear to be the case with the 'three ball diffs.' I should give it a go sometime...

The only problem I have had so far with the ball diffs is drive cups; when those wear it appears one must purchase an entire ball diff set as it does not use the diff shafts that the stock geared units do. With those one can just swap the diff shafts and those are sold as individual from the rest of the differential assembly. Fortunately I think the CV joint dogbones wear faster than the cups, meaning the shafts can be replaced instead; no comment on the stock dogbones...
