Hi guys. Quite a few of these NIB Hornet aftermnarket bodies on Ebay. anyone have one? I see the window net seems to be the biggest difference. Any others? Would it detract from the value of a Hornet with one of these do you think?

Usually people really want genuine Tamiya parts when restoring their car. That explains the crazy prices for NIB Hornet body kits. I think these replicas are overpriced for what they are. They don't have a wing. Would it detract from the value, yes but a built hornet isn't worth that much any way. Having a hronet is more for nostagia than getting a car that has resell value.

out here in canada parma does manufacture a hornet replacement lexan body but just like shodog said they dont have a wing, its molded into the body,it doesnt look too bad but i prefer the original.

I do have a frewer hornet body, which is of much better quality than the original one (stronger lexan, and nice details).

For your info I may have access to some NIB hornet, grasshopper I & II bodies next week, at least my local LHS told me he wanted to get rid of them.

I bought my Hornet a Frewer body, as there is plans afoot to have an offroad 'beginners' class next year for Hornets/SuperHornets. The shell is in my mind much stronger than I remember the Tamiya unit to be, but with pretty good detail. No wing does suck though... best of all was it only cost something like AUS$23 plus postage... which means when I wreck it, I can get another one!!!

I have a aftermarket body to fit a Hornet that I believe is made by Parma, its an all in one desigh thet slopes up to a high wing at the rear end.

there are some pics of it in the Hornet post in my showroom... http://www.tamiyaclub.com/getuserimage.asp...002230639_4.jpg

now that Ive got an original Tamiya shell I no longer need this one, I was considering making a spare Hornet chassis from the numerous spare parts that I have and topping it off with this Parma shell.

What was the name of the spare body made by Tamiya for the hornet? was it the super dragon? I remember that is has kind of a spacy design though.

Yes, it was the Super Dragon. The Super Dragon was initially a 'Body set only', but later on Tamiya produced it as a full kit, with a 4WD Thundershot chassis. As far as I know they did a few modifications to make the SD body fit, it is probably very minor though. Here is a Hornet with a SD body on it, it's Jimbo's... [:)] Looks rather odd but I like that!
