I'm intent on taking mine for her maiden run tomorrow morning so I'll be able to tell you how it fares with my setup. Which reminds me, I really should charge up some batteries for my camera aswell. :P

i too would love to see some action shots and news of running experiences.

i am nowhere near in regards to saving for my kit.i sold stuff to add to the kitty...but then "must haves" always seem to appear when you got alittle cash! :P

so the kitty is now empty!!

i have to fuel my willpower through pictures of cool Avante's to increase my motivation!

Well... Mine held up quite well. I was running on medium tall grass so speed was a bit limited and the only damage I got was when I accidentally dropped it on its tail end. I was holding a camera, a controller and the car by its bumper. The drop wasn't high so, apart from dirt, the rear wing got a little corner damage. I'd just gotten through the park gates, barely able to hold onto everything, and I was trying to put everything down so that I could connect the battery. That's when the buggy slipped from my finger. No damage really. :D

The run time was only 1 battery pack which was just enough for a shakedown TBH. Terrain was a level field with medium length grass which didn't really compact any. It rained last night down here so the grass was still firm enough to bouce back up. There wasn't any obstacles or jumps. Because of the terrain the speed was limited. I think if I was running on dirt or tarmac I probably would've gotten a little more speed built up.

IMHO I don't think I've really tested out this chassis' survival capacity. I never run my RC's that hard anymore so this shakedown run was adequate for me but I'm sure there are others on here with faster and harder terrains at their disposal to do much more vigorous testing. ;) Anyone else ran theirs yet?

Looks great running! must get one MUST

are those Proline dirt hawg tyres you got on the bonus rims? look a good combination.

one thing i love the Avante is the centre diff.

i know it can be seen as a traction liability, but i think with todays tyres, grip isnt in such limited supply.

My Terra Scorcher used to increase in noise as it attempted sharp corners, there wasnt that front/rear allowance that the centre diff gives.

My Top Force look-a-like had a front one way instead and was great for sharp manouvers but you had to be gentle on the brakes as it could perform handbrake turns without meaning it!

thanks for the video it was great to see an Avante in the wild!

Yep. They look fantastic but I haven't glued them as yet. I really should. Even running on grass the front tyres started pulling away from the rims. Not to mention the rigidity of the side walls is minimal so in the tighter turns the tyres shifted over and the insert stopped it from going back. I guess they really are for use on looser surfaces like dirt... Or maybe I should find different inserts?

Thanks for putting that up. I totally forgot to add a link here. B)

I am running a brushless motor 8.5T transpeed but the motor melted the countergear on the inside of the diffgear where the metal rings are attached. I replaced it with a "all-in-one" gear from the Egress (which I don't have anymore). I reprogrammed the software from my esc and the tractioncontrol on my Sanwa M11 2.4ghz and it holds up very good. It is very fast but I am waiting for what GPM is going to make for the Avante.

Do you mean the centre diff area? Maybe there was too much slip in the diff thus generating enough heat to melt the gear? The centre diff has to be tightened with the hex screw with a dab of nutlock glue. When I first ran it without the glue. The screw loosened and drilled into the back of the gearbox.

Even with Loctite, this can still happen - check that the centre of the thrust bearing does not contact the gear housing. I have drilled out small hole for in the gear slightly for clearance, and have not had a problem since then. I also added a washer between the e-clip and pressure plate to tighten the action of the diff also.

If the centre of the thrust bearing is touching the gear, it can spin the other side of the bearing, and undo the cap screw.

I checked after several Lipo packs went through it, and the diff was barely warm, therefore showing no signs of slip.

Hope this helps
