If I am not mistaken, on the cc01 you only have 2 pinion choices. 16t is stock and 20t is optional.

On top of what Dan says, and all other things being equal, a pinion which less teeth will give you faster acceleration and lower top speed and vice versa - more teeth, slower acceleration, higher top speed.

Some might not agree, but I can't imagine any sane reason to even want a 20t pinion on the CC-01. Use the 16t gear and something like a 55t crawler/lathe motor. Top end speed is ridiculously fast on this model with the standard silver can motor and the 16t pinion anyway. Anything that makes it go faster is just goofiness IMHO.

If you had the Toe-Rag Racer (Touereg) is the only time I can think of that you would use a 20 tooth pinion. It will go quite quick! All the other CC-01's are more scale vehicles that you don't really want going fast, instead more torque with the 16 tooth pinion for 4x4'ing.

I recommend throwing the kit aluminium pinion in the trash and replace it with a steel 0.6 module pinion from RW Racing or Robinson Racing.
