Although I admire your ingenuity in modifying your car, I think you are approaching your quest for more performance from the wrong direction.

The simplest thing to do is to retain the 6-cell battery pack and buy a faster motor. Whereas you seem intent on adding more voltage to a slow motor, which is then ruining the cars weight distribution, which is making you seek further chassis modifications to get the handling back.

Having looked at the chassis I dont think its worth the effort & loss of strength cutting it to fit the battery in side.

I'm in agreement with the last two posts. Re arrange the 7th cell so that the pack fits in the stock battery position. Then go for a faster motor if you need to go quicker. Even a Sport Tuned on a 7 cell will make the buggy pretty fast, I have been very impressed with the LRP brushed motors recently.

The GT Four Turbo range come in a variety of turns & are around £22.

Yer, i agree. My 7 cell pack is the stick sort, the weight is pritty equal now.

I am running a ansmann clash 21t & 18t with a 17t pinion and it flies!

I am going to buy a LRP gt4 like you said.

I ran it today wit the 6 cell and 7 cell and the handling was much better, but the trouble was i flipped it on a BMX track early morning and ripped the shell into pieces and bent the macano mod to the side!

So macano is not strong enough+ now i dont have any more suitable parts so i am going to have go back to stock position, but fit some nice beefy dampers.

I know many people who run 8-10 cell's in the bull!

Any suggestions for the shell?

Cheers

Try & keep the rear dampers as soft as possible, the handling will be better. The 3 Racing dampers are good & come with two sets of springs, the red ones are the softest.

If you are using the Tamiya ESC then any motor hotter than your ansmann clash is going to cause it to cut out from over heating or probably die.

Regarding the shell, do you want to repair it or replace it?

Yer, i cant run any hotter then 21t, as its all ready overloaded with a 7 cell, let alone my ansmann clash 21t & 18t!

Regarding the shell i think repairing it would be most cost effective, but if anyone has a mad bull or fighter buggy shell then im happy taking it off there hands...for a good price! Lol

I have just been working on the gearbox, wow so simple compared to my acme and smartech ones! Its getting worn though, probely good for another year then ill replace it.

So heares the plan;

Oil shocks for the rear, maby 3 racing as you said

A motor thats torque and good for bmx tracks

Some cool stuff to make it look cool!

Hows that sound?

I think I would improve the dampers then leave it as it is. You say it goes pretty quickly & I think you are right looking at that shell damage.

You can go faster but I think you are already at the limit of this buggy's handling. I did a similar thing with my Lunchbox (also solid axle), It could go very quickly but the handling wasnt good enough, every time I used it I ended up having to replace broken parts. I did a few handling mods & toned down the motor, its still great fun to drive but now I dont keep breaking it.

My advice is this. Get softer dampers & fix/ replace the shell. Dont spend money upgrading the ESC or motor, instead save this cash toward a new buggy with fully independent double wishbone suspension capable of handling more speed.

Enjoy the DT01 in the mean time.

Yer, i have found some decent shocks on my pile of sparesm just need oil and fit my tamiya springs.

Found some for the front aswell so oil all round!

Got some silvercans on order as i love em! They run great on 7 cell and TRX 19t pinion.

I have glued the shell in place, now making some brackets up.

Have alsp got some dye for the wheels and wing i stuck on...PINK!

Looking forward to having lots of torque again for just £5.

As for other buggies i have nitro stuff for speed and my FB for classis tamiya fun!

cheers for all the help!
