Awesome news. I actually wouldn't mind seeing what they'd do by adapting the FAV/Wild One design to a DT-02 chassis, since the original chassis and gearbox had durability problems.

Well if an FAV is due, that means sure we should be getting a re-re Wild One?

I would prefer the fav and wild one with there original chassis, but with a re-re frog gearbox for reliability.

Price will apparently be 15,000 Yen but pre-orders are being taken at 12,000 Yen ;-

http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM58496

This discount price is USD $142.75 €98.50 £89 GBP.

Release date given on that page is July.

I really hope that this has the original Frog chassis and not some modern hybrid DT02 thing.

Personally I would have thought that the BlackFoot / F150 XLT was a more popular idea to re-release than FAV but I suppose the re-re's tend to sometimes come in pairs so it'll be FAV then Wild One I imagine?

Looks like I have to wait longer for my F150 body to be re-re'd LOL.

Cheers,

Alistair G.

But it doesn't say Re Release ..............

The other re re's have actually said "Re Release" when announced, no?

Certainly I hope this is the real FAV and not something else, but until there are more details known this could be anything DT02 or otherwise.

Great news, I've been looking at fav's on eBay but given what such items normally cost me to restore I'll hang on and do a brushless attack buggy !

Why would you like it on a Frog chassis, Alistair? That would be even worst than the DT02 one!

Anyway, I expect the Attack Buggy to be something like the new Holiday Buggy. And by the way, the older gearbox must be one of the worst designs Tamiya ever created. I mean, it looks very scale on the original FAV, but doesn't work as good as the ones from the other buggies from the early 80's.

It will be good if they use the same FAV body from the early 80's on the Attack Buggy. That way I will be able to finally find the elusive receiver's battery cover! :)

Some of us have been predicting the re-release of the FAV for a long time. :D

However I have to say I'm not convinced that this is it. Why would they call it the "Attack Buggy" and not just it's original name? Surely there were no licencing issues with the FAV?

I really hope they have not done a "Holiday Buggy 2011" on this one.

However if it IS the original FAV then a Wild One re-release is guaranteed to follow. :)

Hello Erich, well as quite a few people here know I like things to be re-released EXACTLY as they were, with REAL sponsor logos, original chassis, exact original box art etc. It's just the way I feel about it :D

I know that the older chassis' don't perform as well (as boringly?) as their modern versions but I don't really care about that, I like the CHARACTER of the originals.

If I were in charge at Tamiya we'd have had exact re-releases for all of them so far LOL. Including the Sand Blitzer 2010 :)

Cheers,

Alistair G.

It's on a modern chassis. It's not a re-release it is a 2011 version of the FAV

For heaven's sake... The Sand Blitzer! :D Now that was frustrating!

Let's hope the Attack Buggy to be something nicer than that.

By the way, how have you been Alistair.

Cheers

If it's not a re-release, the only other chassis that lends itself to that style of bodyshell is the SRB..... Right sort of suspension, buggy champ wheels fit and would look ok. I get the impression from the threads on here that the buggy champ didn't sell as well as expected, so perhaps they're going to rebody the buggy champ to try and shift the remaining parts.............

Oh please let it be original-ish.

As for the name, maybe they dropped the word "fast" because in this day and age, it isn't.:)

well if it's more or less as original this is one i'll be getting, wheels and tyres are already out with the RR release not that makes much differance these days.

I have to say i've not been tempted by any reissues of late (the Avante sort of got my mouse click finger working but failed) if the FAV is a lash up then i'll give it a miss. MIght start looking on ebay for an original that will inevitably get listed in a panic sell sort of way... ;-)

I was told by the same contact that gave me the TA06 info that it's a modern version of the fav... I assumed it tone a DT02 and the price seems to confirm it... I hope so it would be much better than the original :D

Gah, awful news. I agree that it's probably the DT02 though.

Could they actually have the cheek to make it an army green Holiday Buggy bodyshelled DT02 with camouflage decals on top? I wouldn't be surprised. :)
