Did the original's rollcage come in beige? What about the two adjoining metal lengths?....is that new also?

Alu crossmembers look 'old skool';

Beige cage - Pic is from member pcw 064's showroom, not the re-re packaging!

Sweet. Cheers for the pics.

It has to be said though, it's a much better looking model when weathered. Best thing to do when you get this re-re is get out there and absolutely rag it in the dirt.

The stick pack was always a tight fit ,it looks like they have cut out a section where the battery goes in at the rear near the nerf bars to accomidate the wires for the battery (Its best seen in the video of the hobbyshow).

I said drivers side before I stand corrected its the off side.

The metal /alloy cross sections on the rollcage are the same as the original the front cross section on the rollcage (above the drivers head) was always plastic.

From an aesthetic POV, I do like the black rollcage though, breaks up the beige quite well

Agreed it looks much better goes with the other black parts as does the black nerf bars

I agree. Looks like they have gone out of their way to make this as close as possible to being ready to go. Fair play to them for that.

This has got to be encouraging news for a possible Wild One to follow!

I get ya. More good news for owners of the original.

Cutout/Hole visible here (follow battery wires)

Although that would suggest battery wires are 'exposed'?

Does that side section with the hole bolt on to the chassis or was the chassis a one piece affair? I guess if it's the former then those parts from the original will all of a sudden start to rise in price.

On the original, the triangular 'plate' where the nerf bar meets the pod is a screw-on part

Should be a easy fix with a bit of plasticard and some filler though

Is it just me or does the hole on that model look a bit of a botch-job? Like someone took an almighty drill to it and then slipped.

If the battery wire does exit that pod, then goes back inside the bonnet/hood to get to the ESC, it's gonna look a bit naff

I can see a lot of people just ignoring those instructions and keeping everything enclosed as per original.

Also, I guess if the battery wires do enter/exit as in the example shown that must mean that the front of the chassis must also have some kind of hole in it? Or in the screw-on lid? I guess original A & B parts might become rather scarce quite soon.

The hole looks much better there. Funny how a blurry video shot can distort something!

Also, no real sign of battery wires on the side of that built example?

Have to say, on closer inspection of those decals they are actually pretty impressive. They give an excellent impression of being painted on.

I would hazzard a guess and say the exposed wires will slip between the driver and bonnet (under the dashboard) and not go through /under the bonnet the tamiya plug looks like it will always be visible on the outside of the buggy which makes it quite ugly .

Or you can just do what people had been doing for years and putting the stick pack in as per normal and poking the esc wires through one of the 3 holes (I think its 3) under the drivers back side to the inside of the vehicle that way you avoid the exposed wire thing the tamiya plug would then be inside the battery compartment.

The "A" parts on the re release one looks like it is added from a parts bag or sprue tree (Drivers side) and the other side with the hole in it for the battery wires looks like its already built into the chassis non removable (Done at the factory) that is just what it looks like to me I could be wrong .

Speculation is half the fun when they announce a kit .

It looks like the battery cover underneath is black plastic also?

In some ways i'm glad it's different to the original, keeps the original that little bit more vintage and exclusive. So glad it's been re-released though. I have a runner, shefer and new build original but it wouldn't stop me from buying a re-re. I have a 'spare' FAV up for sale, now the re-re appears to be slighrtly different I may just keep it!

Those black roll cages would look good on the Wild One too!

Looks awesome to me!

But polished front damperstays?

Why not black as original?

Badboy

Springs, damper stays...all shiny. Must the 'bling' element!

Just noticed the top plastic gearbox mounts are in black also.

Getting ahead of myself a bit here but let's hope they don't do something silly with the Wild One by bringing it back with the black roll cage & nerf bars. I know some people will like that look but they can now easily go and do it by using the new FAV items. :)

I think the Black cage makes it look better than the original! :) Not to mention that the hard-core collector again will be able to distinguish parts. Very promising release... Should I get one (and sell other runners in my collection)? :P

For me though (the off-topic bit), the re-release is not nearly as interesting as the TA06 release. I don't doubt that it will prove to be a good design, but I'm wondering if the public have faith in Tamiya's design department, or if prejudices about the car (because of it's different design) keep it from becoming a success story. And if it turns out to be a good design and if it sells well, will we see a TRF (or even other brand) tourer in the future with this layout?

I hope I would not have to place a special order with our importers. Glad I didn't ask them to get me a Zahhak, this looks so much more promising.
