This is just brilliant, I think I'm even happier with this than the Avante. That one was a must have simply down to the sheer incredulity that it had been re-released but the FAV evokes stronger feelings for me because it was right squat bang in the middle of my era, the so-called "golden era", and a car that I admired greatly from the sidelines whilst owning my Hotshot.

It's great that they have indeed left stuff like dampers untampered with. They might be Jurassic but who cares?...they add to the scale look of the car.

It's on a modern chassis. It's not a re-release it is a 2011 version of the FAV

Whilst I'm not questioning the credibilty of the source of the above statement I just wonder....does T deliberately send out disinformation sometimes?

I'm also of the opinon that this car might sell stronger than any previous one because I could see it doing a better job of what the Holiday Buggy '10 was created to do....and really appeal to today's kids. If they also make a reasonably low cost XB version so that the tricky paint job can be avoided I can really see these things flying off the shelves.

Great to hear! :)

I'm waiting with bated breath for the Wild One variation! Along with many others I believe. :o

Looks like another will be added to my wishlist... B)

Well i suppose we can expect the wild one soon after. I wonder if thats a shot of the original, i'm sure i can read lettering round the front tyre. I would have expected tyres as Rough Rider (just me reading into it too much B) )

If it is as per picture or similiar this will probably be the first reissue i've bought in a good few years as I've always liked these and seen as I only recently sold my Wild One I might as well dip my toes in the Tamiya market again ...

Can't wait! B)

This one looks promising if it really is close to the original. Hope they update the gearbox issues though.

Never mad keen on the FAV but if it means theres a chance of the Wild One Re-Re then I hope it sells like hot cakes. B)

Anybody noticed the bonnet screws? That's the first difference I can see from the original Fast Attack Vehicle.

tamiya_58496.jpg

I raised this ion a post recently. The original photo in the 1984 catalogue also shows the screws but the Fav's I have owned or seen all have the screws sunk into the bonnet. I do have a repro bonnet and that has the screws shown on top like this one? This makes me wonder if the repro was indeed copied from an original that had thw screws showing?

Anyone have an original FAV with bonnet screws showing?

Either way, the most exciting re-re to date.

Well, Well.

Right now I'm feeling quite annoyed, All this does is make me part with more money B)

I noticed the Sand Blaster Jrs on that pic too so the photo is definitely of an original. For them to put that photo up though surely tells us that the "reprint" is 99% identical.

Im excited on the outside...but im crying on the inside!!! ...seriously how am i supposed to save for my Avante 2011 when Mr T re-re's one of my favourite buggies!

he must be called Mr T...cos' he pities the fool who doesnt get a FAV!!!

I was just squaring away the idea that the Avante would give me a 4wd off road to go with my 4wd on road..Countach.

my Buggy Champ/SS2010/Brat/F150 XLT is my 2wd off road and my M04L VW Beetle is my 2wd on road

now i have to convince myself i NEED a military vehicle too!!

Surely the FAV is best as the first out, compared to the W1? simple paint scheme and some generic racing sponsor decals and you got a very scale looking baja buggy if you dont like the camo idea.

just thinking...the original Frog had kinda ribbed versions of the Wild One's rear shocks.

the original Hotshot had the smooth cylinder bodies required....so perhaps if the Wild One gets re-re'd it will be re-re Frog/Brat rear shocks with re-re Hotshot cylinders?

the re-re Hornet rear shocks take care of the W1 fronts.

if i remember right the W1 had different front trailing arms, wider than the FAV?

perhaps if the FAV re-re has W1 front arms and slightly modded front shock towers to suit ,a re-re W1 is certain?

or perhaps Tamiya will just make the two different arms etc anyway??

Hopefully it'll end up looking like mine :)http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...9474&sid=60

Has Brat re-re rear shocks, Hornet re-re shocks on the front, Brat re-re drive shalfs and other modren bits from Re-release Tamiya cars.

I'd also love to see the Wild One front shocks and shock towers. Frog Universals is pretty likely to be a compatible hopup part, so I think they will keep producing that hopup for a while, but not add it in the kit ;) Bearings will be present though - That's my guess anyway :P

You made a nice example for how the FAV re-release should look/be equipped!

i have had 2 FAV and 3 Wild One bathtubs through my hands in the past.the FAV's were solid..all 3 Wild One's had broken just behind the front damper mount..front right if viewed from the front.

i think the FAV's solid plastic shell and the fact it screwed down like a Grasshopper gave it extra strength around the front.

i dont think it was down to crazy driving on the Wild One's behalf either ,as ALL the chassis's looked like they had been rallied through a mine field. :(

the Wild One's battery cover looks cooler tho.

Luckily I said theoreticly :D You're very right about the rigidity part, I didn't really take that into account (I was more looking at the weight savings on the 'top' of the car). I guess Tamiya will have a look at revising the tub and some other parts for the re-re though, they are clearly trying to make the re-releases distinguishable from the originals, and make them more suited to today's driving needs (after all, they can easily locate and change the weak points on parts with simulation functions in CAD software nowadays). That would mean no hard plastic top is needed - though of course then the plastic top would add even more strength :P
