Kit number 58500 will be a huge Re-Release!

Recommended Posts

I'm sure a lot of people thinking they are someone form an opinion and spread it as fact.

It sure would be nice to get some info direct from Tamiya after the fact, such as why they used the newer bug, why it was this model over that, how they pick re-re's etc.

Can you give us an example?

I heard from separate sources after it was posted here that the FAV was going to be a DT02 as well - I think "I read on the internet" means "I believe everything I read on the internet"

Regarding the FAV;

I just heard through the grape vine Tamiya is Re-releasing the FAV.

Can anyone confirm?

Have list info as 58496 Attack Buggy(2011)

source 1 Shizuoka 2011 Release list

Source 2 Tamiyablog.com

source 3 Friend in Japan.

if true have no other information, Chassis type? could be a DT-02 update? no idea

It's on a modern chassis. It's not a re-release it is a 2011 version of the FAV
How do you know?
I was told by the same contact that gave me the TA06 info that it's a modern version of the fav... I assumed it tone a DT02 and the price seems to confirm it... I hope so it would be much better than the original :)
Agreed. It's early days considering we don't know anything yet but this one sounds like they are truly having a laugh......

I don't know if it is dt02 I was just told it's meant to be an update

LOL, must admit whenever I see info posted about something I don't know much about I tend to believe what they say.

qatmix hasn't been back to explain where his source got the info!

Didn't you have info about the Holiday buggy 2010 well before it became common knowledge?

I heard it was coming back, but didn't get any concrete gen about the chassis until the protoype shots were posted up here.

The clairvoyants here are very very good ...

The Holiday Buggy re-re is very real. A reliable source suggests a Japanese Summer release (Aug) with original chassis and 380 motor. Price is likely to be entry level.

I do hope the Sand Rover is released too - not much of a Holiday Buggy fan myself.

Hmmm, I heard same body, new chassis...

Oddly I'm the exact opposite. If I see the words "A reliable source..", I automatically think "*brown smelly stuff left behind by male bovines*". I'm not sure if this comes from industrial strength cynicism or from the fact that I work in IT, and therefore used to words like "This has been a threat confirmed by Symantec, AOL and Microsoft, so forward it to all your friends!". Even when I see pictorial evidence, my first thought is "Photoshop". Generally, until I see it on TamiyaBlog, I remain quietly skeptical.

Here here! In IT too, and 99% of **** online I don't care about as long as it doesn't create more work for me. The other 1%, I'll believe it when I see it.....

You do realise the Sand Scorcher's part number was next up from the Rough Rider and yet the rereleases were 11 apart?

Grasshopper and Hornet 2 apart, and rereleases 10 apart and the release order was reversed the second time around?

There's no logical pattern to any of them really

You're right, it could turn out to not even be a re-release.. Just an ordinary kit.. Another TT01 lol.

Ha, if Tamiya is doing an Avante truck, maybe 500 will be a TT0-Wild One!

It's a real shame Kyosho hasn't done any re-releases. I have a turbo scorpion shelf queen that keeps saying .. Come on run me, just once, I'm tired of sitting around.

Maybe if we all wrote to Kyosho Japan via e-mail they might take notice?

Cheers,

They would take notice, however given kyoshos recent track record the re-release would be as a mini-z

They seem to have lost all interest in releasing anything else

Apparantly they cant. From Wikipedia (yeah, I know)

"Potential for renewed production

Since rival company Tamiya renewed the production of popular classic models such as the "Frog," "Grasshopper," "Hornet," and "Hotshot," many fans hope for Kyosho to do the same with its own classics. However, the company has already gotten rid of most of the old frame casts, making prospects of renewed production costly and difficult."

Makes sense really cos I'm sure something would have come back by now. I imagine the same situation exists at Associated....just think how many re-release gold pan RC10 kits they could sell.

I dont feel that there is any need to justify anything on this thread. However I get my info from friends, one in Japan and another in HK, and sometimes offload it on here:) never say it's gospel although their info is basically in the right ball park most of the time.

I have recently heard five separate reports of what 58500 will be....

1. Tamiya have bought out the original engineering drawing from Schumacher for the ORIGINAL Cat, and they will be producing it as the Tamiya Cat. 75% of the re-re time and effort has been spent on getting the instructions done....

2. 58500 is going to be a DF03-RA Subaru Impreza 2012 WRC car, to coincide with Subaru's return to the top-level WRC. It will be blue, with yellow sponsor's details. Stock up on PS-16 now!

3. Tamiya saw the hole in the market, and bought the plans for the GV (MRP, Maplin, Ascot, etc.) Beagle. They will re-release it, but with a nicer-designed body (think Optima, but good-looking), better parts fit and quality, and heaps of upgrade options, including an all-gold "Sellabration" chassis set. They will call it the Tamiya ThumbNose, and each kit will come with a DVD of old-style movies of the car, complete with pseudo-porno soundtrack. Apparently they have used stem-cell research to clone the vocal cords of the guy who did their original propaganda videos...

4. 58500 will in fact be called the Man-Drift, and will be a Blazing Blazer drift car / truck - look for multiple design wings included in the kit, the ability to run all batteries (up to 3s LiPo), and a fooly sick LED lighting kit. Car will come standard with a 380 motor and 75% alloy chassis with leaf springs.

5. I had another one, but it seemed too far-fetched......

Of course, I did hear these in my head.....

Alex

Going a bit (lot) off topic here but I don't think re-tooling for that chassis would cost an awful lot really, it wasn't exactly the last word in complexity was it, fold here, fold there, cut this bit off and drill a hole here here and here, job done. And most of the bits are still available from Tower (so one would assume there is a factory somewhere still churning them out) and whats not can be relatively easily adapted from current tech in Associated's parts bins. I think they haven't bothered because they don't look to the past and are making a decent return from selling "current" stuff. That being said, if the world suddenly stopped buying B4 4.1's and suchlike I suppose they'd have a rethink.

Apparently a couple of years ago, Associated had an advert doing the rounds for the RC10B4 that included a shot of the original gold pan RC10. They where inundated with request`s for the gold pan car... From dealers!

Didn't we hear the same things about the SRB? the casts were gone or weren't originally owned by Tamiya etc. Kyosho would need to spend a bit more money on the retooling.. Associated with RC10.. not really, just a few nylon pieces ..

This is just my opnion. No matter what kit is released or re-released it won't cost more that 700 us dollars (bruiser included). There is still a recession people. And the metal tamiya is using is not platinum. On another note, I hope it is a wild-one or a bruiser.
