super_cds 0 Posted April 28, 2011 hello every one. iv had a lunchbox monster truck for around 14 years. i got it ready to run from a local model shop. around 5 - 6 years ago it started to play up and was left in the cubord ever since couple of days a go i got it out. it seems to run fine forward. but when on max reverse it just stops. have been reading on here and with the help of google, i think i needs a new msc. im also thinking about doing some upgrades also. i have order a new bearing set is there a guide on how to fit these? also thinking about a new motor and new shocks along the way. also i remember many years ago it never liked to go in a straight line. is there any parts i can buy to help with the steering? here are the photos of my lunch box also have the other shell:
TA-Mark 195 Posted April 28, 2011 Swap out the MSC (and the servo that makes it work) for an ESC. Tamiya TEU101-BK (or TEU104-BK) works great in a Lunchbox and no more worries about grit getting stuck under the switch plate of the MSC or the possibility of a runaway model. TEU101-BK ESC was included with most re-release Lunchbox kits. Some oil dampers do wonders for the handling. The kit pogo-stick springs bounce around a lot! A better servo saver will help with the steering. So does using the steering links, ball screws and ball cups from the re-release Lunchbox kit. Here's my Lunchbox with lots of mods done to improve the handling and control.
wildwillydriver 33 Posted April 28, 2011 i have order a new bearing setis there a guide on how to fit these? Have you the manual? If yes it's easy to fit them, since you just have to follow it and replace all the BD3 1150 plastic bearings (BD7 on the Re re manual) and the BT4 8850 plastic bearing (BT1 on the Re re) with the ball bearings you bought. If you don't have the manual you can easily find one on the internet to download, if you have any problem email me, i can help. Bye WWD
Jonesy76 0 Posted April 28, 2011 The re-released Lunchbox also had a metal parts bag with proper holders for aftermarket shocks that will make fitting new shocks a lot easier. 80mm shocks fit nicely in a Lunchie (can be brought for under a tenner for a pair from eBay) Swap your tires round though........your treads pointing the wrong way

BigJag 36 Posted April 29, 2011 The re-released Lunchbox also had a metal parts bag with proper holders for aftermarket shocks . Don't suppose you know which part number those metal parts would be?
super_cds 0 Posted April 30, 2011 chaned the bearings took a good few hours and added some new oil! took ages to line the motor back up, as 1st time i tried it, it wasnt lined up correct. just give it a quick run, does seem a little faster checked my box but no manual also put the wheels back the correct way. does any one have a link to a servo saver that will fit and also the steering links, ball screws and ball cups from the re-release Lunchbox ? i have found the shocks also a new motor with a esc so will be ordering them soon edit: now orderd some shocks and a brushless + esc (should be fun) have found a hd steering kit but its in the usa. also with the shocks i think i will need the U shaped adaptor for the top to attach to the body/ chassie as show here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v513/cfj...x3-19-06001.jpg any one know the correct name/ where to buy them, as i dont think they will come with the oil filled shocks? are they from the pressed parts bag? thanks
