So I ordered an HPI BMW 2002 turbo body and received it yesterday. It came with a few extra polycarbonate pieces, like an additional rear end and front pieces, also done in poly. What are these for and how do I attach them? I hope I don't need to attach them to mount on the M-06 I'm going to build. I believe the standard size of this body is 225mm. Anyways, it's probably an obvious answer to a lot of people on here, but I'm stuck.

I have no idea what they're for, but the best way I've found to attach such parts is Shoe Goo. Stop by a Pharmacy and ask for a syringe medicine thingy, it's not a needle but has a bigger hole but forget what they're called should be free though. So, pull the plunger out, squeeze some Shoe Goo in it and put a bead or dot of it down. When using it, remember to apply it where it'll have room to spread out as you push the piece in tight to the body so you don't get a lot squeezing out.

Shoe Goo can be found in the shoe section of most Rite-Aids, CVS etc.

Looking at it on Tower my only guess would be maybe the extras are for a Euro or US versions, but doesn't make sense since you'll have seams.

Thanks for the help. Yeah it would definitely leave seams no matter what. I even wrote to HPI to ask them about it but haven't received a response yet. I'm not about to cut up a brand new body and as I understand it, the standard size is 225mm so I should be good as that is the medium wheelbase for the M car

Post some pics if you can, I been thinking about picking one of these up.

That's really bizarre with the extra parts, HPI is pretty tops with their bodies.

Maybe it's for the light buckets? Beets me but my curiosity is building! After searching around on Google I got nothing.....

Some bodies come with extra parts you have to put on. Sometimes it's the light buckets and other times it's the front and rear ends if they're too difficult to mold as a single piece with the body. The BMW body you're talking about from HPI is likely the Cup racer body and has those additional pieces for added realism in the molding (that's the Cup Racer selling point) I've got a 24z Cup racer body that has similar pieces. To attach them, you can either use the shoe goo method or try double sided tape (the Tamiya Fiat Abarth body suggests that in the instructions)

There's a pic here for those requesting pics

And here it is finished.

Willy the pic didn't work for me some reason. So I have to cut away some the existing body in order to attach the additional parts? and would double sided tape really work. I wonder if anyone has ever done a picture tutorial on this, kind of like Shodog's painting tutorial.

Generally you trim the main body to the lines and attach the extra parts on top.

Oddly enough there wasn't anything about the extra parts in the instructions. It was just about trimming painting decal placement, etc.
