How to reduce the wide stance width of a HB2010

Recommended Posts

Thanks twinset for the help.

Forgot to mention this earlier.... The shocks im using comes from my other buggy, DB-01. I believe standard DT-02 shock should also work.

Thanks Andy for reminding me.

Really nice clear and easy to do guide, thanks for that VTRSP1

I guess this would work with the blitzer beetle?, that is a bit wide as well. :)

Great tutorial. One thing though, I have a spare pair of DF03ra rear arms (part E3 instead of E2). These would seem to work even better since they would bring the front wheels back about a few mm compared to the E2.

Blitzer doesn't share parts with the dt02 ;)

Glad it worked out. You're right as I forgot to mention i had the SR in mind when I suggested using the E3. Again, great work on the mod.

Just thought of something, what if you moved the 1.5mm spacer to the front of front A-arm together with the 3mm spacer? This would move the front wheels back an additional 1.5mm (for the SR :) )

You could just use the outdrives from an M05 or hardened ones (hopup) for the TT01E this would save you having to change the gears in the diff.

Firstly, this is how the HB2010 look like when i first build it

And this is how it look like it now

DF03Ra E part (suspension arm) 51367 x 2

Spacer 3mm x 2pcs

Splined bevel gears

48mm dogbones

Honestly Dude, that just looks plain silly and I bet it hampers the performance.

Why not keep the vintage HB the same and the new the way it is! The DT-02 chassis is very good. With new shocks that is. ;)

i got a Q for JAnderson,

where about did the idea of using those parts for narrowing the Sand Rover2011 front coming about?

Does any know the wheelbase width and length of this? Trying to achieve this:

http://www.tamiyaclu...l.asp?cid=98734

I’ve configured mine to 260 mm wheelbase, but if you flip the rear suspension arms you’ll have something like 250 mm. But the resulting drive shaft angle is quite alarming, and mounting the rear shocks become an issue.

However, when using touring car bodies like shown in the showroom entry, the tall rear shock tower and gearbox can be an issue.

Thanks for your response, but I should have been more clear.

"Does any know the wheelbase width and length of this?"

this = the thread we are in, using the DF03RA arms.

Plus Does this method with the DF03RA arms narrow the HB enough to fit under a touring car chassis?

Yeah, in this thread, but there is no mention of how wide it now is. I'll have another look around.I already have a new holiday buggy chassis and a MK2 Escort shell to go on it. I ordered some DF03RA arms yesterday, so I'll just try it and start up a project thread next week.
