Wild One question

Has anyone tried to install the re/re frog diff outdrives, dogbones and stubaxles into a Wild One?

Should be a direct fit as the old hex drives are all the same for the original frog, W.O., blackfoot, monster beetle, brat, and lancia rally......I have not retrofitted my W.O. yet but have done a blackfoot and frog-perfect fit.

Thanks. I finally found a Wild One and really lucked out. All original, no scratches or marks. It was built and used a couple of times and I guess sat on a shelf. The owner passed on and all his stuff went to a local shop where it was purchased and put on a Kijiji. I can't beleive how mint it is. The driveshaft are making noise when you accelerate (clicking). I remember my Blackfoots and Monster Beetles doing this years ago when I was a kid. I might retrofit them all but we'll see. The car also came with a complete set of new drive shafts, and diff gears. I'll post pics soon. The only things I see missing are the stickers for the chassis and the stickers on the rear shocks.

Yes, not only the axles will work perfectly, but you can also throw away that unfortunate plastic gearbox and fit the one from a Frog by making a few small mods!

here's one i made earlier,

re-re Frog gearbox,uj's and 12mm hex adapters.

mounted as normal at the bottom and held only by 2 turnbuckles at the top.very sturdy..dosnt seem it on paper but once built you'll see.

I've been running the frog out drives in my FAV since the re-re frog came out. The work beautifully and its straight swap. If you want to go one better, Tamiya produced a hop UJ for the frog. I've been running them in my Wild one for around 4 years and they look brand new and they are super smooth.

NEED HELP....!!!!! Did a mod on my wild one rebuild where I have done a heap of mods including a frog gearbox and the aftermarket uni's to suit... BUUUUUTTTT it doesn't run smoothly and jitters and jumps around and generally is ROUGH....!???!!! Whats wrong or what have I missed...????

I have checked everything, and the only thing I haven't done is frogshot the cups to the diff which I don't think is the problem...

Runs ok without wheels....??!?!?!?!

So if that's the case with the wheels , it has to be with the wheels binding ?. check the bearings to see if it's binding & spacing + is the axle bent ?? may need to check .

Doing this mod does the dog bones need to be longer ??. As i have not done this mod i'm not sure . As the hole lot maybe stretched ?.

I had the same problem with the universal upgrade kit on my rere Frog.

Went back to the stock dog bones in the end.

I've just done the gearbox replacement on mine.

I'm still using the original Wild One out drives and shafts and I did notice that one of the out drives does not go in quite as far (perhaps 2mm). It felt like it was going to cause the arm to bind when moving up and down, but once it was all back together it didn't seem to be a problem.

I wonder if somebody could take some pictures or measurements of the originals compared to the frog outdrives and dogbones... ?

Still no luck with this... tried alot of things and had it apart like a dozen times...!!! I think i have narrowed it down to the loosness of the old swing shafts and the 'L' shaped retainers on the outside allowing it to 'vibrate & move' around in its posi... Sooooo got some new swing arms from a rere FAV and some new retainers from alfettalimo, fingers crossed....!!!!

The re re FAV ones are alot better any way , As i have seen them . Just put one of mine together last night .Got some strength in them with ribs ( not the one's you can eat ) .

Weeeellll after months of pulling apart adding a new piece here, and pulling apaprt and adding a re-re piece there.. I finally worked out the problem....!!!!! The frog uni kit (which you would expect to be sweet) Is GARBAGE...!!!!! I put the original hex's back in and shimmed up and it drives heaps smoother...!!! So finally I swapped the dog bones and outdrives etc from my re-re Brat and it is perfect.. Drives good, handles good and starting to look good... HAPPY with it now...!!!
