And only £17.50 @ Fushion hobbies for all 4 wheels with preglued tyres. Search for "900027 Carson 2WD All Terrain Tyre Set - Black". They also do a chrome wheel set for £21.50.

They were out of stock when I ordered some 6 weeks ago.

Might have to place another order soon. :)

All the doom prophets should read this thread. Just check how much we are having with or "horrible" yellow wheeled, hole in the bonnet, wide stance monstrosities!

As always the big T hit the mark with their thinking behind the HB2010.

Are we having fun yet? By the posts here I can say "OHHHH YEAH'!!!!! :)

Exactly - I wouldn't have bought one had it been a "proper" re-release - this is much much better

All we need now is a Sandrover 2012 with a slot in the interior and a shocktower poking 3¨up through it lol

I know, some people on this forum sometimes forget rc cars are for having fun with <_< the original chassis for these was bobbins so I now have the look of my old car but with a fast useable chassis.. Easily my lads and my favourite tamiya for bashing about

Talking of petrol cans, Mr Crispy yours look too good for a runner, loving that matt Green colour you have used on yours by the way

Thanks Rosey, nothing special just a little humbrol dark green I think, black straps and Games Workshop tin bitz & boltgun metal on the filler cap. So far they havent picked up any knocks or scapes mostly thanks to their position rather than any driving skill on my part <_< . I did give them a few coats of Humbrol matt varnish via a spray can along with the roof and head lights to help protect them a bit.

Like many people I had wanted to repaint mine and do something original but somehow once the yellow roof went on it all came together and I really like it now just as Tamiya intended... well almost. I think the body is a lot more robust that the usual hard plastic bodies I have on other kits such as the GH or VLB and its shrugged off a few impacts that would've split the those IMO. I think if Tamiya release a hard body after market set then they'd keep most people happy and those that want to paint theirs or fill in the bonnet holes could do so much easier, it could even come with bonnet inserts already on the sprue.

I just wish they'd get around to releasing the Sand Rover on a DT-02 chassis too so I can have a retro matching pair. Maybe if that was released with a narrower front end it'd resemble the look of the original and provide us with a simple way to swap out and use on the HB2010.

Did a little tinkering with mine, and found the perfect setup, and now it just sings. Swapped in a 540 and a steel pinion; the 380 was just a little pokey with the 6.6v LiFe pack I'm using. Also added a set of old oil shocks from a dead Stadium Thunder, and switched back to the stock tires and wheels, because they work better than anything else on my bumpy backyard. So much fun now! I'm so glad I bought this little thing.

Now, I just need a way to change the color. I'm tired of seeing blue ones, and I don't much care for the red. I have an idea; I'll report back if it works...

Yeah racing 70mm for the front and 90mm for the rear from www.rcmart.com in HK. The shocks seem ok, haven't run it yet. Another user here (Madracer) uses the yeah racing shocks on a lot of his cars and likes them.

I would like to know if there are any alternative or aftermarket front bumpers available for the DT-02 chassis? As the body of the Holiday Buggy sits a little bit in front of the bumper and remains unprotected to impacts, it got cracked up to the fenders due to a crash. Something in the style of the wide DT-01 front bumper or similar would be appreciated.

I was thinking the same thing also a larger front bumper that would fit.

It sounds like the improved handling over the original might be worth the sacrifice of having the holes in the bonnet and wider chassis.

Actually just looked at my duratrax desert truck bumper and it looks like it would be a perfect and easy bumper to fit the holiday buggy!!

See photo and also see bumper photo here at tower hobbies.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXZMZ1&P=Z

Thank you!

That bumper seems to be pretty nice and looks like it should do the job, even if it is not exactly what I originally had in mind, because: As far as I can see, this will need some minor modifications to make it fit to the DT-02 chassis. Maybe I even have to fix it to the original bumper somehow instead of just replacing bumpers. Am I right, or am I wrong?

I would mark the holes into the duratrax bumper and drill them out and screw it right on top of the stock bumper.... i think you will need to trim the rear of the bumper off there is a raised part for hinge pins to go threw...then do what i said...take off the front on your HB the 4 screws that hold the front on uner the chassis and trace out the holes on the new bumper and then just put it on right over the old one.... may want to use a hair longer screws

Shenloco, thanks a lot for your detailed description of modding the bumper. I will try this as soon as I get my hands on all the parts I need.

I found a design flaw on the HB and Super Figther G rear suspension: When 3/4 compressed, the upper right linkage will hit the gearbox cover at an angle thus stressing the linkmount quite a lot. At the same time it will limit right wheel suspension travel to app 3/4 of left wheel and basic shock travel. This observation only applies to the HB and SFG using a plastic upper linkage arm, which wider than the adjustable counterparts of the Desert Gator and Sand Viper chassies.

A little grinding could fix the problem.

There's another design flaw with the Holiday Buggy 2010: If you install the front oil shocks as per manual (64mm length), the right steering rod will hit the servo cover plate (part C1) when the front shocks are fully compressed. Well, but the chassis bottom will hit the ground before you can compress the shocks enough. I don't know if the same occurs with the blue friction shocks installed.

Yes, that is true for all DT-02 cars. I noticed that as well, but forgot about it...

Maybe these observations should not be in the appreciation thread? :-)

Well I think the time has finally come for me to upgrade the HB2010 to a larger motor. I took the little fella down to Littlehampton beach this week and had a great time in the kids play area chasing my daughter, but I couldnt help thinking it was very under powered on the open beach. So it's time to dig out a spare RS540 and I need to source the correct pinion gear. Can someone recommend where I can buy a steel replacement that'll do the job and remind me what size I should be looking for please?

Even with the 380 I was still having a lot of fun pulling donuts and rolling burnouts

IMG_0152.jpg

Given the soft sand I probably would've been better off with the original super grippers. Next time I go there I'll be checking out the sand dunes on the west beach, they looked like they will be a lot of fun!
