Yeah I will have to keep a close eye out on them... but it maybe a while before it hits the dirt again. :(

Yep that may happen as searching for parts is turning up nothing it looks like the Fox may no ride again. :P

I am glad I didn't pay too much for it in the deal with the Falcon as that is in good shape overall.

Plus I had the bonus of all new front end parts that I can save for when needed for the Falcon.

Yeah I found found a few parts but the rear arms are the sticking point on the car ever going again.

It may live in a box for a while in parts until they come along.

if the rear arms are just cracked around the hinge pin and large chunks are not breaking off then you can use the arms no problem just don't take any huge 4 foot jumps.

you can also re-enforce the arms with some thread and Crazy glue.

one member on Ebay was selling Replacement arms machined out of nylon, but they were expensive. Truth is the original A-arms although rare are still cheaper then the cost of machined arms which were around 120$. plus if you busted a A-arm on a fox you most likely busted the D parts (gearbox as well or cracked the front of the fox chassis.) its amazing how brittle mid 80s tamiya's are.

Yeah they had big chunks glued back in and the shellite just pulled that apart in no time to show they really have had their day.

I would be happy to get a good used pair just to get it up and going as they will be the parts holding it back I feel.

Well that is the rear arms all sorted for the Fox.

Now to find some wheel adapters, the little part that is attached the gear case and the rear guard and the steering servo end bit that has the pin going thru it. Oh and at least one good front plastic disc on the front arms at the ball joint.

Bearings on the way too for it. so it is coming together now along with it twin buy the Falcon.... :)

I might just try and strip the paint of the bodies for now.... how would I do that  anyone with a proven best method??

Will eventually order some new bodies but the better half isn't too happy with the extra cost to get these going

I restored on back years ago and made it mint.

You will put mor money into it than you will get for it. I recommend just saving up and buying one new in box, unless you want a runner.

I spent over $100 just for new body set and the wheels cost me $80 new.

Good luck, but like I said, if you want a mint one, just save and buy NIB, you will spend less than building one from parts mint.

With what I purchased that car for and what I need to spend on it it will come in far cheaper than a NIB kit with what people are asking for them at the moment.

$600-$700 (average) for NIB is just something I wouldn't spend to be a runner, if I did it would sit on the shelf and never see electric power let alone dirt :)

I don't want a shelf queen this is to be a runner so it's wheels/tires that came with it will be used and a new body from ***** is a good price.

The most expensive part to replace has been the rear arms but that shouldn't need doing again now thanks to the ones from ap6318

the few parts I now need shouldn't cost the earth it is just a matter of finding them and I have a strong lead on them now too. :D

Servo, ESC, RX and motor aside (for the cost of getting this car up and running) as I would need to buy these for a NIB kit anyway becuase I wouldn't run it in it's orginal format.

This isn't about tuning a car over it is about finally having a running Fox in my collection to keep so what I end up spending is not really an issue when having one in my collection is the pricless factor.

RC cars are not far from 1:1 cars in regards to spend and return factor unless you get that one that is just so collectable it sell for far more than you could ever spend on a resto job.

if you are going to make it a runner just be aware the gearbox is very easy to damage from a rear impact or taking a jump and landing on the tail.

the rear bumper does almost nothing in protecting the gearbox, its very easy to run the bumper support right into the gears themselves on impact and just ruin the gearbox case and the gears inside.

I've parted a few runners and its never a positive return on investment.

That is good to know, so I am better off not attaching the rear bumper to the gear casing?

I will be treating this like my Terra Scorcher, with care. That too is in that age of fragile Tamiya bracket as I have replaced a few parts on that over time.

A bit easier to get parts for it now with other care who share parts being rere’d unlike the Fox and its near on standalone parts

Yeah was happy to get the news that he still had one set so I snapped them up quick smart.

mate that would be great if you have a few parts, used is fine with me.

I need

D 1

D 3

D 4

F 6

That is all. With F 6 I only need one as long as the original small screws are in it as one of mine has had a bigger screw put in it

D 4 are the wheel adapters as mine have broke in to bits.

I had thought of that as I have some hotshot wheels & Tires plus the adapters to mount them but my Fox wheels are in ok shape for a runner so I think I would prefer to run them.

the tires are in good shape for their age. the rubber is soft and is not cracking so I will try and get some more life out of them too.

Yep the gold is coming off but I can live with that and see no point on spending big $$ on new Fox wheels and would actually find a cheaper alternative like the hotshot wheels for example (if they are cheaper) or more modern wheels if the look is right.
