I had to throw my .02 in this mess.

1) Bruiser. Such an awesome piece of over-engineering. Probably not so good as a runner, but a dynamite shelf-piece!

2) Blackfoot. I lusted after this thing as a kid. Tamiya's first monster truck, and a very stylish one, too. Sadly, parts for these trucks don't grow on trees...

3) Frog. Lusted after this even more as a kid (no idea why, nor why I own a Blackfoot and not a Frog today). Maybe I'll buy one of these before too long?

4) Midnight Pumpkin. Was produced forever, but inexpensive to purchase. Lots of these may not survive the next ten years or so. Also quite stylish, and I may own one soon.

5) Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA. For no reason other than that it's so beautiful!

6) Porsche 934 Turbo/ Being the first has to count for something.

7) Clod Buster. Very popular truck, and many were subjected to modifications. An impressive shelf queen, even stock.

8) Holiday Buggy. Simple and very Californian (I'm from California). Plus, the driver's wearing a cool hat.

9) Avante. Same basic problems, and virtues, as the Bruiser. Also because I'm a longtime buggy fan.

10. Rover Mini Cooper Racing. 58211 was my first Tamiya R/C. If only Tamiya still saw it fit to include the chrome bits.

Hopefully this list will be thought-provoking, but if not, I'll settle for a smile or two.

ok here goes, your probably gonna laugh but i dont care [:D]

1. the hornet - everyone can remember as a kid seeing one flying full bore down the street. i dont own one yet but i will when i can afford one.

2. the monster beetle - one of the all time greatest trucks, not the fastest or even the most controllable but still a piece of r/c history.

3. the lunch box - i dont know about you lot but it made me want to buy a van [:P]

4. the mini - i dunno if its a vintage but after watching the italian job, i wanted one and i will have one [;)]

5. king cab - i can remember one of the spoilt kids having one of these when i was about 14, i have yet to get one of these.

6. the boomerang - nice 4wd built to last, i have owned one many years ago.

i personally dont have any strong collectability issues for ss/sr/hb but i do think they're great cars, ersonally i like to run my cars and i don't like the idea of running something a buggy or model worth £500, it seems daft, at the end of the day were all different thats what makes the tamiya club a great place.

p.s. yeah know there aint 10, but my managers on the war path about me being on here when i'm supposed to be at work [}:)][;)]

Sojerd, while I think your comments are intended to inflame many Sand Scorcher owners, there is some truth to them. You're right, the drivability of the Sand Scorcher lacks in comparison to buggies that were released shortly after it. But you must also realize that it was truly the first mainstream off road car available. And to its credit and probably the reason it's still so popular is it's scale looks and heavy cast metal parts. You will also take note that many of the other cars that drove well are not necessarily what are collectable. Collectability is not based off of anything rational. It comes from the desire to own something. Reasons for this vary widely which makes it hard to determine for you why so many people would want one which keeps the price of them very high.

As for my top ten

1. Mountaineer

2. Fast Attack Vehicle

(1) Bruiser/Mountaineer

(2) Egress

(3) Frog

(4) Super Shot

(5) Fox

(6) Hot Shot

(7) Porsche 959

(8) Sand Scorcher

(9) 58173 VW Beetle

(10) TA-03 Lancia 037

Just missing the list is the Hornet for me, was a tough call to leave it off.

Just missing the list too are the 58170 Castrol Supra (These seem really rare. I have one NIB - Love it!) and Taisan Porsche GT2. From the modern cookie cutter touring cars, I only really regard the body sets as collectable.

I would say that the re-released Lancia 037, with its hard body and being a better scale car than the original is becoming more collectable.

hello,(soory for my bad englsih )

it is almost impossible to say for me .

1)super sabre (my first car)

2)astute (my favorite car , I do many race with it )

3)monster beetle (I have 3 [:D] )

4)king cab (really good car)

5)avante (in project ,always want it when I was kid)

6)lunchbox

7)clodbuster

8)bruiser (one day may be ...)

9)egress (in project )

10)dyna storm (can beat today buggy on a track )[8D]

I will never sold my car because it is a passion for me and each remember me different thing that I don't want to forget.

Also I spend a lot to restore it , and I don't think that was a good operation .

so the price was not an argument for the top ten.

Actually it was the Rough Rider, maybe Sjoerd was adressing more the SS specific hype, not all the SRB, still I agree its a lovely car and often less perfect cars are adored more then something perfect, cold and sterile.

I've always been a buggy fan, so they are always high on my list, and the more recent ones for durability, but some of the onroad cars are up there too.

My list would be -

1. Astute - Just love these cars, hence why I have 3

2. Egress - An amazing looking car, very well engineered, maybe one day I'll have one.

3. TA04R Chassis - Great looking chassis already having most of the bells and whistles as standard.

4. Desert Gator - A modern buggy that looks fantastic

5. Manta Ray - My first car, and in the 11 plus years I've been running it I've still not broken it.

6. Super Astute - A great looking car that is the durable version of the Astute

7. Dyna Storm - Great looks and going by peoples reviews a great car in general, will maybe try and get one someday.

8. Wild Dagger - Don't ask me why, I'm just drawn to this truck, there is definitely something about it.

9. Hornet - A great car that just soaks up the abuse you throw at it.

10. CLK DTM 2002 AMG Mercedes - Okay, I confess, I love these because I had one, and its a great looking car, one of the best for me, and the chassis wasn't bad. A TL01-LA which I put in an 11T Super Modified Motor and man that thing went quicker than a Whippet with a bum full of dynamite!

Just read these, really has made me think I was always a kid that loved anything with wheels so it had to look cool and seeing as I am now an engineer it had to be complicated or at least look that way!

1. Avante (My first and only buggy!)

2. Bruiser (Love any sort of 'monster' truck)

3. Wild One (Just looks so cool)

4. Peugeot 406 Touring car (I used to have a peugeot touring car)

5. Porsche 959

6. Hilux (Yes another one but at the time it really was impressive)

7. Clodbuster (ties with a mate and RC)

8. Juggernaut (It just looks fantastic)

9. TXT 1 (The engineering thing again)

10.Mountaineer (The show pony)

So far I have 6 out of my 10 the hilux is proving just a little bit crazy in price right now and I sold my Avante and Peugeot :( as for the 959 I have my eye on a NIB one....

Anyone see what I did with that lotto ticket???

Great Idea! I'm shure this list will be different as time goes but right now I would settel for this:

1. XC/CC01 (1.Wrangler, 2.Pajero, 3.Izusu 4.Honda and 5.Toareng[:D])

I place this first because I think it is the perfect allrounder and also for it's nice details.

2. Lamborgini Cheeta. Just love this good looking and detaild body!

3. 3 speed, has to say Bruiser because it's mine[:D]

4. Subaru Brat, siply a great looking car!

5. Black Foot, body and decals together are dynamite!

6. TB01 (1.Ford focus, 2.Subaru Prototype and 3.Lancer evo) Placed this hi because of it's running abileties.

7. Pilot Escort Cosworth. If you don't like the looks of a Escort Cosworth your not like me[8D]

8. The beetle

9. Renault 5 turbo

10.(1.Pajero 2.Wild Willy 3.Willys Wheeler) I can remeber them from the mid eightees and alot of stuff I can't remeber from that time[xx(]

No buggys for me this time. In my opinion a buggy should be a racer and therfor I would prefer Associated, Schumaker and Kyosho. Even do tamiya offcourse have made the nicest looking ones: Super Shot, The Frog, Grashopper, Fire Dragon, Manta Ray, Avante, Egress and Top force are all super nice!
