I have ordered on Ebay the

FlySky GT3B FS-GT3B 2.4Ghz 3CH Transmitter w/ Receiver

which is essentially the same device. Only $30USD!!! worth a try..

When it arrives next week I'll post some feedback.

I've been looking at these myself.

Just not sure if the large display screen will drain the batteries?

Changed your mind on the 2PL?

Got one, works fine. Its sold in the UK also under Ansmann brand at £70+.

Its also sold under Flysky branding at similar prices to HK.

The receivers are very small, make 27/40MHz receivers look very dated.

Only issue is getting extra receivers, HK have been out of stock for weeks - i bought 3 extra when i ordered, i should have bought 9.

Yeah cool would be intrested in that. I am thinking of getting this for my runner/bashers and then a nice radio for my TRF201 and DB01.... or maybe not.... I don't know :)

or then there is this one

No haven't changed my mind just looking for a cheaper alternative for my bashers and then get the 2PL later or whatever is around for the DB01 and TRF. Have to explore options

The receivers are the thing I am trying to find and prices on them

It seems the second one I posted is a good unit for the price the isssue is stock of it and the rx's to go with it....

:) might be buying this to get everything over to 2.4GHz and then upgarde the TRF and DB01 later.

this way I can get more cars going first.... A plan maybe coming together.... :D

Why don't you just get the 2PL and be done with it? FHSS RX's are pretty cheap..."one radio to Rule them all" lol.But seriously My mentality has always been buy once cry once. Good luck with whatever you get.

The 2nd one linked is the one I bought (Kryne76 has one aswell). I bought it for all my old cars and bashers as a spektrum receiver costs me at least $50 each, whereas these are $12. Have kept my DX3R for my race cars. Good way to go for getting everything onto 2.4ghz.

That was my thought why spend $50 plus on each rx for my “Bashers” with the 2PL when I can get every car on to 2.4GHz for the price of the 2PL and I cannot seem to find anyone knock these.

Still will look at a bells and whistles system for my TRF at some point and that will give me some flexibility to have a few of my cars all running at once if needed.

To each his own. For me it's less trouble to have one quality radio and 3 or 4 RX's for 15 cars.I can't run more than one at a time :) worked for me the last 19yrs

I hear what you are saying, I just cannot be bothered swapping out an rx each time I want to drive a car. When they are all up and running I will take all of them to the track when we meet up so it is easier and cheaper for me just to have each car with its own rx at $14 with this system and not paying $50 plus dollars a pop for an rx with the Futaba system.

The math tells me $50 x 7 cars lots of dollars or $14 x 7 cars not as much and has the same result for me at the track with the functions I need for good fun at this point.

If 1/10 racing ever gets going again in Adelaide then I will look onto a good system for my TRF. I still like the Futaba systems as they have a good wrap from what I am and have been reading up on, but at this point I just feel that is overkill for most of my cars and what I use them for considering the HK systems are seeming to be a fine product for what I need.

I am just finding a good way to stretch the dollar further to get all my cars on 2.4Ghz and away from AM. :)

Wow you take all of your cars with you when you run? Most i have ever had with me is 3 or 4 (hence my 4 RX's) I most definitely hear what your saying though $14 is better than $40 When i got my new 4PL last week i had to spend another $120 for three more receivers to get my 4 total (sucks i can's use my 3PK RX's). I have 2 rx's servo taped into my 2 (currently) most used cars and velcro on the other 2 RX's it's about a 2 minute swap when i want to change cars and saves me from having $500 in receivers.

Quite a few of the guys in Brisbane have the first one but branded as Eurgle.

We bought them from one of the guys that runs vintage at Boondal.

No one has had major problems with the transmitter (the display can be hard to read in full sun) but some of us have had the receivers cark it. With the price of the receivers it is still good value even if you have to replace one every now and then.

I've used velcro instead of double sided tape for rx and ESC also. It works really well, makes for quick swap outs and offers a bit of shock resistance in a big hit. I've also used Blue Tak in an emergency and that works surprisingly well also.

I've been using a FS-GT3b in my vintage collection for a while now without any problems. IMHO, the earlier FS-GT3 performed a little better but was a royal PITA to get programmed. The best performing radio of the FS/HK lineup would be the FS-GT2, if you don't need the features of the GT3/GT3b the things are great and amazingly fast.

Considering that I can get a FS-GT3b and 10 receivers for about 10USD more than a single R603FF receiver it's served as a great solution for the vintage collection.

I suppose I could shuffle receivers but at $6.25 for a FS-GTR I'll spend the money and avoid the hassle.

I have decided to go HK Radio and have a HK310 and two extra rx's on BO with HK.... hopefully they get some in stock soon so I can get my cars on 2.4

Any word on how long stock will take to come in?

I've been watching for over 6 weeks and had a back in stock email set up for over 4 on the 3 channel receivers - when they do get them in i hope they have about 1000 units, bcause otherwise they'll be out of stock again within a week.

I hope they don't take more than a month but I wouldn't have a clue how long it will take. :o

Got the stock alert email this morning, so i have four 3 channel GT2R receivers on the way (together with some ESCs and EZRun motors ;) )

Sod's law i gave up on Hobbyking earlier int he week and bought a couple of Flysky equivalents from forcehobby - oh well i will have 6 spare RXs now.

No such luck for me yet.... I will have to wait until Monday then I can send an email to ask a question of time frame.
