Datsun 240ZG & its Safari variant is on the "1/12 Big Scale" static series, same as the 934RSR and 935 Martini whose not-as-foctory-intended uses we all know.

Curious - Anyone tried fitting a 240Z body to a RC chassis yet?

I have two 240ZG's lying around after buying them real cheap on eBay. I intend to fit at least one of them on an RC-chassis, but I've too many projects right now......well always. [;)]

I think the body is too narrow for an M-chassis, which would otherwise be my choice. I'll measure it up, and reply again.

Or the Safari version maybe on a 959/Celica chassis? Ok, its wasn't 4wd and the hard body would disintegrate propably after off road use, but even the 959 chassis can't handle that well too [;)]

I have just measured the body of the 240ZG.id="size2">

Front width without the separate wheel arch flares is 137mm

Rear width without the separate wheel arch flares is 140mm

Add a few milimeters with wheel arch flares. Just remember that the safari-version doesn't have them.

Wheelbase is 190mm

No posibility to fit it on an M then. [:(] Ideas are thus very welcome, right Willy? [;)]

When I was at it, I measured the Porsche 910 from the same 12000 Big Scale series as well, as this model is quite easily available after the rerelease in 2000:

Rear width: 140mm

Front width: 135mm

Wheelbase: 194mm

Here's an auction with the 910:

I don't have the Lola T70 from the 12000-series so I can't measure the body, but I know it was popular as an alternative body for Tamiya cars in the late seventies. Here's an auction for the 1999 rerelease:

Talking about adapting plastic model bodies, some of the Otaki (now Doyusha) and Nitto are of very high quality as well. The Nitto Lancia Stratos (which was recently rereleased) has the following dimensions:

Rear width: 152mm

Front width: 144mm

Wheelbase: 185mm

Here's an auction for the Stratos assembly manual (couldn't find a kit): http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...item=3108383348
