I'm in the process (still) of building my scorcher up, and was going to put coilovers on it - anyone know what are the best alternative parts?

It came with coilovers on the front, but they're too short so the suspension doesn't work properly - lower arms don't reach stops on extension.

Cheers a lot

I hear Hornet shocks are used for this quite often. I'm not absolutely sure as I haven't done this. (Quite difficult without having a Scorcher (STILL!) and Hornet Shocks... [xx(] )

All you need are some washers for the end of the damper rod, some springs from a hardware shop and some rings for the shock bodies, to act as a top stopper for the spring. Should'nt be too difficult to make/get.

The ring for the shock body would be the most difficult. Could just use aluminium and drill a hole in it the same diameter as the shock body then put a thread in it for a grub screw to hold it in place.

VVVWWWAAARRR LLLAAARRR!!...

Easy eh?!!..

Hey Bib

Whatever's in that bottle, stop drinking it[:D]

I don't have the original dampers, so it's a case of trying to find;

a) A shock that extends far enough for the suspension travel

:) One that compresses the necessary length

3) Something in blue or black with coloured springs[8D]

Not worried about threaded pre-load adjusters or any of that tosh, just going for pretty.

This RR on ebay has shocks on all 4 corners... looks quite good I think... you could always email him and ask him which ones he used...

These look like the HB touring car shocks. If I am not mistaken, the original dampers are fairly close to 3 inches. Touring car shocks are a tad shorter so your not dgoing to get all the suspension travel you need up front. You will never get the suspension on a SRB to function as well as an RC-10. The touring shocks don't really look scale. I would try to get a set of Hornet rears and try to adapt them to an SRB.

On my own RR I use the stock dampers but I have the CRP coil over kit. I see these on Ebay from time to time. they are not all that costly.

I just got myself a set of these Truck oil shocks for one of my SRB - no coil over but they look sweet. I'll post pictures when I eventually fit them to something
