I have been working on this project for a little while now, forgot to post it on here so I will add couple of posts for you to catch up along with date of the original posts.

Have wanted a boat for a while and particularly a Fairey Huntsman, did a trade with Sgt.Barnes for this model its a Huntsman31, to say im happy is an understatement. It is in need of refurbing and after looking at it long and hard I decided it was easier to rebuild a cabin rather than repair old one. The deck was thick with varnish that had crazed and it peeled away from the wood, result. I will post pics here as I go along....

The cabin build commences, really grateful I got a Draper fretsaw from Twinset a while ago, has made life much easier, very happy with progress so far...

Well been about 2 months since my last post about boat as I had put the Huntsman aside for a while whilst I finished a couple of my other car projects (Old Tamiyas). Now those have been attended to its back to the Huntsman and on with the roof... not having manual (until now) I went with doing it in 4 parts front, rear and two small strips. So far I have done the front and rear, and quite happy with it.

Think I have decided on a name for it too, my two grandkids are Jack and George (Twins) so decided on the name "JayGee"

Finished the roof filling in the gaps between front and rear, gave it a sand and looks good imo. Still got to strip paint from the hull before i can do much more.

Started planking the deck but due to a slight monetary issue (hobby fund this month has taken a bit of a battering) I have had to put that on hold so got back to stripping the paint off hull, laborious job but will be worthwhile.

Oh and this is where I got up to with planking, just a test at moment but Im happy I think.

Took the Huntsmn to Andy's (Nightowl2912) the other day and he redid the propshaft for me as the original was set up for nitro and I will be running this electric.

Picked up an 80a watercooled esc and a 900kv outrunner motor. Plan to run it on 4s lipo.

Some nice woodwork skills there Biggus...

Yeah, really impressed with the deck work. Must be a lot of job putting down all those strips.

What are you using between the deck planks? I notice you've gotten the black lines in correctly, just like 1:1 boats.

Sorry fella, very late reply.. at that point the black lines are just gaps but I have since finished the decking and used acrylic grey paint applied between planks using a syringe and needle (worked well :)) Then stained the wood and applied yacht varnish with a cloth, very happy with results. Also fitted motor, almost ready for a quick test run before i put paint finsih on hull.

Hey sarge only just seen your reply cheers.

Bit more work done on it now, including its maiden run to test the setup and its working well. Now it has the white, blue and clearcoat on (not brilliant but will work just fine on the water), cabin has been sanded and filler primer applied ready for top coats.

Thankyou,

Been working on the cabin, now in paint and started on the windows... just doing it simply using .020 lexan and cutting strips of vinyl for the frames. Also had the name made for the transom, as previously mentioned its Jay Gee (for Jack and George my twin grandsons)
