My TT04 SS 2003 Audi TT-R ABT DTM S Line Livery

Recommended Posts

Hi all. New guy here who recently purchased an old TT04 SS from Ebay.

The original shell was the Red Bull Livery in Fair condition. I ended up buying three new shells. 1 for a basher and two for the shelf. Of which I just finished the one listed below.

Tamiya only made a Red Bull & Halleroder livery and I always liked the S Line one but no one made it. So I purchased a Carson decal set from the 2004 A4 DTM. It's far from perfect but I'm pretty happy with the results.

I've installed a bunch of upgrades to the chassis

Here's the original car for reference

Excellent work on that shell!!! I'm about half way thru a build on this exact kit with the 2 shells and sticker sets. Would like to see your list of hop-ups, and choice of motors too!

Thanks guys.

I originally purchased a Tamiya RS-540 sport tuned, then decided to get a Tamiya RZ Super Stock. The car isn't too quick with the original 25t / 83t pinion spur combo, So I'm waiting for a 45t pinion to come in from Hong Kong that I'll pair with a 112t Spur. Tamiya recommendeds this combo on back of the RZ Super Stock box, so we'll see how it works. Eventually I'll get a Brushless setup.

The original HPI 340 EN-1 ESC was overheating with the RZ engine so I picked up a Tamiya ESC TEU-302BK. Braking is not nearly as good but it keeps cool. Other additions so far have been the following:

Tamiya TA04 Carbon Upper Deck

Tamiya 53460 (OP460) TA04 Carbon Damper Stay (Front)

Tamiya Super Stock Motor RZ 53697 23T

Tamiya ESC TEU-302BK

Tamiya TRF Special Blue Threaded Body Damper Set

Tamiya 53452 Aluminum Hub for Spur Gear

OP442 Tamiya TA04 Color Stabilizer Set (Rear)

ALLOY FRONT KNUCKLE ARM TAMIYA TA04

RC 0.4 Pinion Gear (44T, 45T)

Item# 53422

RC 0.4 Pinion Gear - 30T, 31T

Item# 53690

RC TA04 Aluminum Heat Sink

Item# 53437

Various tires and wheels.

I'll post more pictures later in the day.

I'm sort of a fan of the TA04 chassis (I've got a few) and I just haven't gotten round to doing up an Audi TT shell. Nice work. <_<
