To be fair though, the first version of the Renault wasn't great either as far as 'scale representation' goes :(

The new stance is a marginal improvement I grant you that but the body has remained unaltered in the original jurassic form. Infact in some ways it actually looks worse. I mean, what's going on with the eyeliner around the headlamps? :):P

@ SpudTrooper - thanks Darren. Just what I was looking for. Where is everyone getting these images?

Not exactly what I thought, but re-re body on RA chassis was to be expected. I agree with the comment that the arches need to be filled. Feels like it would be easy to take this an add the right wheels, interior and spots and make it quite a cool runner. Looking at the M05 chassis I thing it would even be possible to easily mod it into a mid engine rear drive :D

Still considering this as a kit to sit along side my mini...

You're better off using the M06. Mid engine rear wheel drive does not work out so well in RC.. thats why the M04 was difficult to set up, to get it to handle, you needed to add weight to the back end..... and also the reason why the M06 has the motor at the back..

The R5 looks very, very bad. The old mold was not very realistic indeed, and it seems they are just re-using that for the body. I was already thinking: 'Is it just me, or does this look like a body from Parma?' :( I don't want to say that Parma bodies are *@#^!, but certainly not anywhere the league of the detailing you see in good Tamiya bodies (I'm not going to say 'Tamiya bodies (in general)' anymore: This body shows why).

The Pajero looks better with the Lunch-wheels imo! The Pajero, VLB and MP are cool kits, but I won't buy one though: I think I'd like the chassis initially, but get bored of it after a few runs :D Please prove me wrong though :D

The Pajero gets two thumbs up from me :D but although I really like the m05 chassis, this Renault release looks so terrible, it will surely make small children cry at the sight of it.

I only hope Tamiya does a better job on the Golf.

I hope that's a "deal" price with radio, battery & charger ... if not, ouch! :(

£60 more than the Lunchbox - i'd buy the VLB, and then add the Paj shell n decals as an alternative body - i'd put up with the yellow wheels !

60 pounds more for a different body and white wheels seems a bit pricey.

It is, but i guess a lot of the difference reflects the VLB has been around for 20 years and unit costs are pretty low. Not all that translates through to the white wheels and Paj body by the looks of it !

£130-140 also seems to be the launch point for a lot of these retro type releases (FAV, A110 Alpine, Stadium Blitzer), which reflects a price point just above the entry level models.

I already have a Monster Truck and that's what keeps me from buying this Pajero really! I 'need' a Monster for the winters (snow/ice and rain) and rough terrain (2WD bugs don't do that sort of thing too well) - I'd lock the diff and see how good a job she'd do at that.

Maybe a future purchase, definitely one for the list of wanted cars! ;)

PS: Is it just me, or does the wheelbase of the Pajero shorter than the VLB/MP's? :(

Its not just you - to my eyes it looks 30-50mm short too.
