Yeah - they did some "pull back" scale models a year or two ago. You can still find them if you look hard enough.

I am so pleased (and a bit surprised) about seeing this happening......I can live and hope they re-re some of their 1/10ths!!

Cheers

Yes - but that was a loooooong time ago Steve!!

This is so freaking cool............

(I am nearly as amped about this as I am about the Tamiya Sand Rover re-re, if they dont butcher it too much :lol: )

If they threw out the molds for the buggies - I have new shells I would happily donate to the cause!! :D

Cheers

Just incase Mr Kyosho is reading this thread...these are the ones you must start with sir.

1) Turbo Scorpion

2) Ultima

3) Gold Optima

4) Turbo Mid SWB

That'll do for starters. :lol:

Imagine a limited release - say 1500 world wide - Gold edition Optima........

However - it would need to be a proper gold edition - with full gold parts, gold shocks - like it should have been in the original....aw man......... dribbling!! :lol:

Would love to see a Gallop MKII and Javelin as well.!!

Ohhhhhhhhh mannnnn

Cheers

Would have been stoked by this but now there are repro bodys, decals, tyres and of course the Optima chassis are ever lasting. Can't imagine they would sell many. I've never seen so many box art Optimas out there and there seems to be less interest now as collectors have found/restored/ sold on their childhood memories.

I'd love to see re-re Kyoshos too! Didn't Tamiya also start it all with those Gen II TamTech cars? Agreed this can be the start of something bigger!

But first of all there's the question if they've foreseen this and kept all the moulds etc like Tamiya did...

And they have a lot fewer models that Tamiya, still it would have been great!

Don't forget the Progress 4WDS! What a crappy high-tech car that was! "Kyoshos Avante"! <_<

Considering noboby has yet "responded" to Tamiyas re-re success, I do see it at a longshot that any other manufacturers will follow...

Well if they had any brains why would re re some cars , As tamiya have made some $$$'s with what they have released .

So if they others don't they lose big money THAT im sure most need in these hard times . Would be a good game plain

to do so .

If they did i would get the turbo opt mid , as i had one of those .

Good bit of fun, but don;t fancy the drivers view - not much chance of seeing whats ahead, without significant use of oversteer/drifting <_< !

i thought i had spotted these in a store display but it was the pull back version, it's probably lucky might have been an impulse buy other wise and to many things on the list :)

Looks cool except for the oversized shock tower on the front. It's higher than the windscreen! Anyhow, maybe Kyosho might just realize that there is gold in them there re-release hills!!

Not sure if there would be that much 'gold in the hills' for Kyosho. They always leaned their car to performance over looks, so would you an old car without modern performance / reliability, without the 'uniqueness / quirkyness' of vintage tamiya cars. After all, a lot of the earlyish tamiya were not exactly performance orientated. I had a couple of kyosho cars back in the 80/90s (Ultima / Ultima Pro), and the main draw for me was the better design philosphy, and the improved performance. Getting of hold spares was always a pig though, and they weren't exactly the sturdiest in the event of a crash.

With regard to the comments about a lack of moulds, I don't think this would be an issue with modern manufacturing methods. Once they've purchased an old kit, it would not be difficult to reverse engineer moulds for parts, all the design work is already there, it's just a case of measuring and copying. Don't forget the chinese once copied an entire B29 bomber and started building their own, so copying an old buggy should be a piece of cake :)

Personally Id prefer looks over performance (both is better!) as I like cars that look a little more realistic. I think if Kyosho were to ever rerelease some of their classics, they would sell like hot cakes- possibly even more than some tamiyas.

Not sure of Retail price yet, but it looks to be in line with other current Mini-Z models, they will sell both a "Chassis Set" 32281BCBW (Car Only) and a "Readyset" 32281BW (radio included) version.

Regards other models I am told that they are going to see what the market is like and if its a good seller will look to offer other vintage takes like Javelin Salute turbo Ultima etc etc, so bottom line get buying this one and you might eventually be able to buy a 1/24th Javelin or Turbo Optima etc (How cool would that be!).

My list for 1/10 re-re's would read:

The plain ones the first year:

* Scorpion

* Ultima

* Optima (with original chain)

* Optima Mid

Then some of the improved ones the following year:

* Turbo Scorpion

* Turbo Ultima

* Turbo Optima (with belt conversion)

* Turbo Optima Mid Special

As for the comments about looks..... In my opinion the Optima Mid is the best looking competition buggy of all times, by far! It was absolutely stunning back in the days, and looks just as cool today. And it was a delight to drive, compared to the former generation of Optimas (and other brands). I would crown the LWB version (maybe together with the LWB Schumacher Cat) the king of 1:10 off-road racers. It was good looking, drove great and had tons of soul.

I would buy every single one of those..... But it won't happen, sadly.
