hi all, i have a traxxas bandit (early model) and saw a Rustler and think it needs a convert!

the buggy isnt much good on the local grass field, so the wider track and wheels on the rustler would suit it very well, also my bush devil is getting very sloppy so need another truggy to bash.

So what is needed for the conversion? i have seen a pic of a conversion that retails the buggy shell, so i dont want the body/mounts, and also i need a new wishbone pin as the one is bent (must have had a fast crash), and front wheel axle pin, so may as well see if i can just convert it as i am replacing most of one side.

So can someone specify what is needed so i can just find the cheapest around the web.

I may also change it to BL as well sometime in the future.

Hi Glyn,

I have a converted Bandit / Rustler in front of me right now. Conversion was simple. Traxxas parts are easily available. I'd suggest MightyModels via ebay or I've found it often good value to get Traxxas parts from the USA via ebay sellers who split new models to parts. Some of them have very cheap shipping to the UK to.

OK so you're going to need the bigger Rustler wheels and tyres.

At the front you just need to change to longer 3637 front axles to accommodate the larger Rustler wheels. You'll also need a 12mm hex as Rustler front wheels have hex fittings.

At the rear you'll need the longer Rustler A arms, longer tie rods for the upper links, and the longer driveshafts. Search ebay you'll find them all there. You'll also need wheel hexes again. Bandit wheels have a pin slot in the wheel where as Rustler wheels take a hex fitting.

Hope that helps. A Rustler with a Bandit shell on it is a bit like a Madbull ... but better!!

excellent, thanks.

i need a new bulkhead and front right hand wishbone as the car appears to have had an old injury and the pin is stuck solid in the bulkhead, but they are only a few £ from ebay as well :o
