Yea thanks guy's I just found out it was a normal 540!! shop on E-bay has a fulse add !!!

Anyhow i looked on e-bay and those Johnson motors go for like $20.00 shipped so for like $3.00 more bucks you can get a tamiya black cansport tuned motor shipped to your door so i purchased one of those just in case the 540 is to slow for me.... Can't test it today or for a few days as here in NJ we are going to get blasted with bad weather!

My 1990s Mondeo had a Johnson motor in it, I know this as it was stamped on the case. I thought it was pretty cool as that is my family name. The motor now resides in a Frog/Mud Blaster hybrid.

Tamiya have changed their motor supplier for the kits a couple of times over the years. There is not really anything between the two suppliers that the average user will notice.

They have used Mabuchi motors for the last few years but they may have just changed over again as my FAV re-release has a Johnson motor in it.

That is the same motor thats in my Knight Hauler.... is this the standard motor in all types of tamiya models - cars, truggies, lorries etc..
