Could someone explain how many variants there are and the differences in..

gearcases

front axles (the triangular section the arms and tubes fit to)

My curiosity really, but i've cleaned and rebuilt two SRBs this week, and today i noticed i have one lot of front axles with lugs to hold the tension spring and another lot that you add the small screws to act as the spring stoppers.

Can't say i noticed anything with the gearcases, but then i wasn't really paying too much attention to their finer details !!

There are three different vintage SRB gear boxes if you count the Super Champ. You can see the differences here: http://www.studio68.no/rc/default.asp?id=10430

There are two different front upright variations, one with lugs (mk2) and one with screws (mk1).

There are also different rear A-arms and front trailing arms.

I'm talking vintage here, not counting re releases, as I havent studied them that closely.

The differences in front arms must explain why the first one i rebuilt had quite slender arms and the latest one are about 30% thicker,

Thanks.

That's correct. Mk1 front trailing arms are thinner than the mk2 arms.

Excellent link - everything i needed to know and bookmarked for future reference.

Looks like i have three Mk1 gear cases, and one set of Mk1 front axles/arms , 1 pair of Mk2.

Thanks TomEG
