shenlonco 1156 Posted September 11, 2011 Since tamiya gave you a metal 15 tooth i am thinking of using it in my kit...how is it with this pinion gear and the stock motor is it ok speed? THANKS
Percymon 2184 Posted September 11, 2011 The 15tooth pinion, 70tooth spur is the rough ground ratio option, good for acceleration but not thrilling for top speed. The 20tooth pinion,65tooth spur will give you more flatout speed, but less responsiveness when on and off the throttle. All depends where you want to run the car, and also which motor - remember these were designed 30 years ago so if you want modern speed you are likely to be disappointed with a small pinioned silver can. QIK-RX4 0 Posted September 12, 2011 I run the 20/65 combo in mine. But i also use a traxxas VXL-3 ESC from the slash in it and run 11.1v lipo with the std can. Great pick up and top end to boot! If the motor dies it will only cost me $5/10 for a new one... So far it has held up just fine.
