Hi guys,

I have seen so many vintage tamiyas on the site and I am now thinking of trying to purchase my own vintage, possible from ebay or somewhere like that.

My question is, would it be possible for me to get your opinions and any likes or dislikes of the vintage tamiyas so I can decide which one I should try and find.

Thanks

I am not looking for a specific car, off road, on road it does not matter i just want to know which vintage would be a good one to add to my collection since i only have modern one and would like an older model.

But as theo said, just buy one that u personally like. If u like the looks of the egress, then try and look for one and buy one. If u love the looks of something like the Grasshopper then looks on ebay and buy one. Its as easy as that. It doesn't need to be something amazing like a Sand Scorcher, u can get your own vintage Tamiya for a cheap price.

Thanx

Wild One, FAV, the list is endless!!!!! The thing to watch out for is that once you've got one you'll definatley want more!

Get whatever you like. That's what it's about in the end! [:D] In some cases it just happens to be a older Tamiya model, which is entitled as 'vintage'. A car is not necessarily nice just because it's 'vintage', a car is only nice becasue YOU like it, whatever reason that may have. (first car, love the looks/design, always dreamt of one as a kid, etc. etc.) [^]

No No Not Stiker! Get the Sonic Fighter!! [:D]

In all seriousness, as others have said whatever vintage tickles you fancy, for me its the FAV.

I have never owned a vintage, my first car was a super hornet purchased at target, but parts would keep breaking (i wasn't even driving it that hard) so i got my money back and brought a pajero mtw from the Penrith Hobby Shop.

I am thinking of trying to get a 3 speed car or a willies wheeler which would be great fun! [:D]

Since the Super Hornet is number 124 and 'vintage' is 1-150... The Super Hornet is vintage! [:o]

But if a 3-speeder or a Wheeler is what you like best, then go for it.. [:)] [;)]

1 - 150 is the Tamiyaclub definition of 'Vintage'. We had to pick a number and thats was it.

Where did it come from... well I wanted a number that would encompass the Mountaineer which I think is 111, which seemed an odd number and seeing as i always liked the Mini Cooper (#149) then I decided on the number 150.

It will change over time.

The only place the word 'Vintage' is used is in the title of this forum 'Tamiya Vintage Discussions'. I can change this to 'Discussions about the first 150 cars' if the masses prefer.

I am sorry I can not believe anyone has not suggested the first car of first cars.......THE HORNET!!!

This should be everyones first car, its the law. What? it isnt a law? Well it should be!

That's what I said Chris... [:)]

According to the club's definition of a vintage Tamiya RC car the Super Hotnet is a Vintage Tamiya RC car (as it's RC car made by Tamiya, and one of the first 150 cars made as a '58xxx' series)

The Mini is not really vintage to me, however nice. Does vintage mean nice and 'non-vintage' not nice? (Not to me at all!) I guess 1 to 125 would be a better bet, but still that includes the Super Hornet... [;)] (not that I don't like it to be vintage! [:o] )

Personally, it would be the Holiday Buggy for me. Its the very first Tamiya R/C (make that real RC) that I ever owned. However, I agree with the general concensus here. Get one that you like.[:D] Although the Holiday Buggy is a splendid car[:P]
