Ive just got my hands on a great blackfoot and im looking for some new tyres, got some decals, and a few new/upgrade parts, but the tyres are much too hard, or is there a way of re-viving my old ones.

this is how it came to me, before the strip/clean and re-build.

If they have hardened but not cracked then rub some smooth peanut butter into them. The peanut oil will revive them a little. If you intend to use it then repeat the treatment after the first three runs and then every other. Will keep them from cracking and deteriorating.

mmm think ive heard that somewhere before but cant think where, well a jar of peanut butter is a bit cheaper than a set of new tyres, cheers for that i will keep you informed.

Lol I'd forgotten about the peanut butter trick til it got mentioned earlier this week. And yes I have used it on 1:1 cars in the past!!

I would like to know if it is possible to replace the long joint shafts at the rear for shorter ones, so I could use Super Blackfoot rims, King Blackfoot rims or WR-01 rims along with a hex adaptor instead of the old Tamiya style wheel adaptors.

What kind of rims do you use, B.M.T.? They look great with those IMEX tires.

They're Sees from the 80's.

The short axle idea would work, but there is a problem. The "bearing track" in the trailing arms is wider than in modern Tamiya, so if you put stubs from a BF3 which originate to the HotShot, but were used on most models from the early 90's on you would find the cross drill for the hex sitting inside the outer bearing.

What you need is the modern wheel adapter for the Frog (can't remember it's number) and you could use any of the Nu monster hex drive wheels.

If you kit blackfoot extreme CVD'S you will get around this problem .Also fit touring car hard cups . The advantage is much greater strength so if at any stage you go to brushless ect you have a a way better drive train . All standard tamiya parts and readily available

With these fitted your choice of rims is also far wider with the addapters you have shown

these i have a set of these somewhere, might have to dig them out.

Yep, that's them. They will push the hex drive Tamiya Monster rims out to the right track.

Blackfoot Extreme CVD's still won't help, they are designed for a hub with TL01 bearing spacing. The pin hole will be 3mm inside the outer bearing on a Blackfoot trailing arm.
