With my second and third SRB projects within hours of completion i'm now looking to the pile of spares i have and wondering what to do with them.

I have enough parts to build a complete rolling chassis as per the manual (bar a radio box), and have a spare Rough Rider shell

Somehow though i wonder what's the point, already have a two RRs and a lightly modded Scorcher now.

So, without going silly trying to source expensive rare parts to make a Super Champ, whats the optimum build with what i have and some nice new parts ?

Current thoughts (this took all of 30 seconds)...

Radshape chassis plate and front bumper - well regarded, plenty of torsional rigidity

EZRun 9T motor and 45A ESC (i have these already)

Hobbyking 2.4GHz RX (from the spares box)

Direct steer ?

Would like to go with a set of alloy rims, maybe the RC channel ones ?

No idea on shocks other than I don't want another torsion bar/spring set-up

Tyres - no idea, but sand thrower / paddle type perhaps ?

Lexan repro Scorcher shell - a lot less hassle for a runner than a hard body

Any suggestions / links most welcome

Thanks

Rc channel has some great parts , Chassis , shocks , rear suspension set ups , etc .

Then maybe different body of some sort .

Hilux body instead of F150 hi-bread sort of thing .

How about an SRB 911 Porsche? You could fit Brat style front wheels and 915s to the front, make a custom chassis plate to get the wheelbase right, and then stick an 80s style Porsche 911 shell on the top?

Hmmm - pick up truck - food for thought, Ranger style !

Nice idea, would need to do some research on what the correct scale wheelbase would be and then no doubt there'd be no suitable body.

Do fancy a model using the HPI Carrera RS shell

That's why I say make a CUSTOM chassis plate. It's dead easy, I did one for my scorcher out of 2mm thick aluminium. That way you can make the chassis to what ever wheelbase is required.

Biggest issue might be finding a suitable body with sufficient height for the front shock towers - i doubt a 911 body has enough height at the arches

Pickup truck is sounding great ? .

Plenty of Chevy bodies from Pro-line, i'm sure one would be suitable.

I'm off to study the Ranger manual.....

I'm liking the look of j-man's rear cages and nerf bars - in fact i'm liking everything in his gallery.

Nothing in his eBay shop currently, only used cars
