Amen, brother! ;)

I'm approaching that situation now as it happens :D. My collection is fairly meagre compared to some (a mere 23 cars), but my workshop / study room is the smallest of the two bedrooms in my house. One wall is buggy shelves, one wall is mostly window and the other two are just stud walls, so I'm not too keen on putting a lot of weight on them. Of course "needs must as the devil drives" and all that malarky and I'm sure you can get specialist mounting screws for stud walls ;)

Yep, I have the "not enough space" issue as well. Its tough deciding which models to let go so new ones can be brought into the fold. Then there's always that feeling that creeps in down the road..."aw, I wish I didn't sell (insert sold model name here)" :D

In my small workshop (16 square meters), i am also running out of space now.. ;) Currently 37 working and running models are in there, and another 15-20 pieces in the storingroom upstairs. Not many, but still, our house is quite small, so sometime, i must run out of space naturally.. (Boo-hoo)

However, i don´t get rid of any, but i have started hanging them by the front bumper on hooks, screwed into the ceiling, lol.. This makes place for MANY cars!!..

Yes, i have also tried the "buy some new parts, and realizing, that you have already bought those spares, not once, but twice or thrice", Time for some racing and breaking some parts then, lol. :D

No such thing as "too many models".

There is such a thing as "not enough space" though ;)

Spot on!

Like others have posted, I've lost track of entire parts, donor cars, motors, etc. I've even forgot that I own a "spare" kit and bought another spare in the meanwhile. Now I guess I have to say I've got backstock. :D

On one occasion I had a serious conversation with my own goofy self at 1 a.m. trying to self-justify an ebay purchase of a 6th example of a chassis I really had no earthly use for. (Shockingly, I won that argument, but I'll leave it to you all to decide which side prevailed though....)

I have however encountered serious storage problems. Not sure what to do about that, but I'm happy to report I just bought another NIB truck. ;)

True.

My wife has suggested moving to a bigger house though! ;)

When you know you have a spare part, but end up having to buy a new one because you can't find it among your 30 or so cardboard boxes full of stuff.

Up to 85 models is about the threshold. After that your love for them individually is spread so thin that you never have any descent alone time with any one of them.

There's collecting a few models to re-live that childhood memory or run on the weekends, and then there is hoarding which is a mental sickness. I've seen alot of both :D

In my case it's when my wife throws a track because my cars have spread from my display stand, taken over her display cabinet and a new one sits on the dining table.

Good job she hasn't seen the three more boxes in the stairs cupboard.

My friend has a sollution for that.

It is a quarantine type system. Basicly he buys new computer gear. Then he goes and puts it in the storage space downstairs.

Then after about a month he'll make sure his wife is down there doing laundry or something, then he'll go down there, look around, and blurt out "oh, look at this, I forgot all about this, I wonder how long it may have been down here..." :D

I haven't reached it yet, but I constantly have to rearrange space to display them. Actually, I thought I had too many when I could not display two of my r/c, and had to box them for storage. Lots of re=arranging going on all the time between 1/24 and 1/10 models. I have 4 1/10 and about 8 1/24 scale vehicles, but also a handful of Gundam type models on display. Boxes, Parts, paint and tools take up a lot of space as well!

I too think it is not a question of too many, but a question of space. If I had the money and space, I would like to have everything : ) Just walk down my own museum of Tamiya and admire them on display, maybe take a few for a drive whenever too.

So true, just not enough free time to use them all if you have too many. Having 4 of them, and finding build/drive time between responsibilities is tough for me. Always like seeing them on display though!

I have childhood memories of hoarding

where does that leave me :D

I currently have about 18 built and running. That's about as many as will fit in my "case". I actually have to leave 3 on my workdesk at all times because there is no room for them in my case.

I also have about 30 more NIB/parts so I have about 50 cars if I built them all. I'm reaching capacity, but always find reason to get a new chassis style to work on...

Currently I'm debating entering into the "Scale Truck" theme.... I currently do not own any trucks except a TLT-1.

That will start another collection of 10 or so trucks I think... No idea where to store them!
