]Pics added[/topic]I find it funny that I keep finding myself in the same situation. When I was stationed in California it took me over two years to find revelation raceway! After a couple deployments I’ve found myself in SC and again it took me over a year to find an off-road track.

I have been wanting to purchase the TRF801xt since it was released, but I couldn’t justify the cost when I had nowhere to run it. Well I have a place to run it now! So I purchased one. I’m not a racer by any stretch of the imagination, but I’ve out grown my REVO and I’m just wasting money throwing parts at it to make it do things it wasn’t designed to do. I purchased an 801xt. I purchased a scratch and dent model from Tamiya USA for 250 US. There wasn’t a mark on the box and all the contents were perfect. Well not perfect, I had a drive shaft that wasn’t reamed correctly and a steering post with the same issue. A call to Tamiya had the new parts to me (at my cost grrr) in three days. I’m told that when I send the defects back I’ll get refunded, fair enough.

I outfitted the truck with a LRP .28 spec 3, they cost only 167 and I was afraid that I’d be getting what I paid for. I was wrong, this thing is a beast! I don’t need an Italian special with peaky power delivery and small life time. The LRP was a little tough to get broken in, but after 7 tanks, some curse words, and patience I now have a screaming torque laden beast.

The rumor mill is that the truck is discounted in price now because there is an update on the way (no not the one with the shorter arms). Better for us poor folks! If I get good enough Ill enter a club race, Im betting that she can still prove to be worthy after two years.

Best of all, I now have a place to drive my EVO and DS, with brushless power they fly!!!!

PICS, when I get home from the office.

I hear electric versions will be coming out

That would be sweet. However, there is just something about the site, sound, and smell of a screaming 1/8 car!! Im loving mine. And with updates it is the perfect vehicle to get my hands dirty in the club racing seen. Well, as long as the team guys stay away!

I had only one Nitro (TG10). I love the sound and the realistic motor revving but I hated the clean up and engine tuning. Enjoy your car, it's a nice kit :)

Too true on the LRP, I had one (still got it in fact) and although I now have a (couple) high revving beasts, the LRP was my old faithful, huge torque monster, loved it. And tremendous value for money

ps

A word of caution, apparently gear mess is critical when dealing with a big block tq beast. I had to much spacing between the spur and clutch bell and stripped the clutch bell.
